“No matter what, we’ve been at each other’s throats for ten years, but you’re still my girl. I admit, I’m not your match–you always have the upper hand. But we’re family, aren’t we?” Thorn replied, his tone deceptively warm.
Sienna gave a cold snort, her face expressionless as she raised her gun and fired. Thorn’s face stiffened, but he dodged in an instant.
Sienna kicked at him with her long legs, and the two started fighting. After half an hour of fierce combat, Thorn’s expression turned grim.
Caught off guard, he was sent flying by a kick from Sienna, crashing hard to the ground. He spat out a mouthful of blood–black blood. Only then did he realize he’d been poisoned. Just when did I get poisoned?‘ he thought, panic rising in his chest.
It was the bullet. The bullet was poisoned.
Sienna strode past him, her voice icy and merciless. “Thorn Noir, I killed you once, and I can do it again. If you want to live a little longer, stay out of my sight. Next time, I won’t spare your pathetic life for anyone’s sake.”
Thorn roared, “Hazel! I’m telling you one last time–marry me, or you die! There can only be one head of the Noir family!”
Sienna sneered, her voice dripping with mockery, “Go ahead and try me.”
“Hazel!” Thorn bellowed, his voice shaking with fury.
What neither of them expected was that water from the woods was pouring into the pit, already rising up to Amber’s shoulders and quickly creeping up
to her neck.
“Amber, hang in there! I’ll climb out and pull you up,” Winifred called out, her voice tight with urgency.
Amber was already shivering all over from the cold, her face drained of color–not that anyone could tell under all the mud. She nodded, her teeth
chattering.
Just as Winifred was about to climb out, a deafening explosion ripped through the air.
Winifred’s pupils trembled violently.
Amber stood frozen, rooted to the spot.
Winifred failed to grab onto the stone tightly, and the next second, she slid back down.
“She’ll be okay, she will,” Amber whispered to herself, shaking her head in denial.
Winifred quickly grabbed onto the edge of the pit, managing to steady herself.
“Yeah, she’s going to be fine. We’ll get out of here in no time,” Amber desperately prayed.
But the rain kept pouring, and the pit walls grew slicker by the second. Winifred was running out of strength. Just as she was about to slip, a pair of strong hands grabbed her tight and pulled her up.
Lana cried out, “Ms. Winifred Hart! Ms. Amber Hart!”
When Amber saw Lana, she broke down sobbing,/wailing, “Lana! Please save me,
I’m freezing to death!”
Reno jumped straight into the pit and pulled the poor, helpless Amber into a tight hug. “Ms. Amber Hart, don’t worry. We’ve got you–we’ll get you out of
here in no time.”
Amber clung to Reno, pressing herself close, sniffling with a pout. “What took you so long? But… thanks anyway.”
Reno was nearly done in by how adorable Amber was. ‘How does Ms. Amber Hart manage to be so cute, so pitiful, and still have that little tsundere

attitude with a bit of sass?‘ she thought, unable to hold back a smile.
“Blame Lana! She was the one who wasted time–otherwise, I would’ve been here way sooner. Sorry you had to suffer, Ms. Amber Hart,” Reno said, putting on an exaggeratedly guilty face.
Lana shot her a look, completely baffled. ‘Huh? Why is it my fault?‘
Never mind the fact that it was Reno who spent an extra minute messing with the bombs.
Winifred and Amber both blurted out at the same time, “Where’s Sienna?”
Lana lowered her head. “Don’t worry, Miss Enna’s safe. We’ll go back for her right away.”
Winifred snapped, her eyes red with fury as she grabbed Lana by the front of her shirt–not the collar, because she just wasn’t tall enough for that.
She was only 5’51” tall, after all.
45
“What do you mean by that? She was in danger and you just left her behind, didn’t you? You work for her! Why did you save us first? Tell me–where is st right now?” Winifred demanded, her voice trembling with rage.
