The Year I Was the Other Woman To Myself novel Chapter 60

“The Sullivan family will not have a daughter-in-law like you!” Mrs. Sullivan declared. “Zebulon, if you don’t divorce her, you can get out of this family too!”

With that, she grabbed Rebecca and stormed out. At the door, she turned back. “And this house, even though it’s rented, I forbid you from paying her rent!” she shouted at her son. “A barren woman who can’t even have a child has no right to live in a place like this!”

“This is my house!” Penelope finally roared. “All of you, get out!”

She was truly furious now. The injustice was suffocating.

“Zebulon, your mother wants us to get a divorce? Fine! Let’s get a divorce! And whoever backs out deserves to get hit by a car!”

Zebulon’s face was ashen. “You really think I’m afraid to divorce you?”

“You’ve already got another woman! Why would you be?”

“Penelope!”

“Even if I was with another man, Zebulon, you were the one who cheated first!”

He stared at her, his eyes burning with hatred. “You will regret this. I will never forgive you. We’re over.”

“That’s my line!” Penelope took a deep breath, her gaze resolute. “Zebulon, I am breaking up with you. From this moment on, we are done.”

His eyes flickered with something unreadable. He clearly hadn’t expected things to escalate this far. But his pride was wounded. She had cheated on him and now she was humiliating him. He couldn’t back down.

“Fine. We’re done.”

He turned and strode out of the house.
