The Year I Was the Other Woman To Myself novel Chapter 438

The family, likely aware of what happened, didn't come forward to apologize. Instead, they quickly paid their bill and tried to leave, but the owner, having checked the footage, managed to stop them in time.

"How strong do you think my grandson is? It's clearly your faulty pipe! You're just trying to shake us down for money. No way!" the boy's grandmother shouted, pointing at the owner.

Not wanting to argue with the elderly woman, the owner showed the security footage to the boy's parents, hoping they would be more reasonable.

"My son was just playing, tossing a brick around. You can't even see clearly if it hit the pipe," the father said. "And even if it did, it's still your fault. Why isn't there a fence around this pond? Then this wouldn't have happened!"

"That's right! I haven't even started on you yet. What if my son had accidentally fallen in and gotten hurt? Could you afford to compensate us for that?" the mother added.

The parents were just as unreasonable, leaving the owner both angry and frustrated.

"Another spoiled brat," Natalie commented with a grimace. "One time, my film crew was at a dinner, and a kid in the next private room nearly burned the whole restaurant down."

Hannah could relate. "My cousin's kid is just like that. He pushed my grandmother down the stairs, and she broke her tailbone and was bedridden for six months. And you know what happened? My aunt and uncle didn't bring their kid over to apologize. Instead, they blamed us for 'scaring' their child."

Listening to her friends, something suddenly clicked for Penelope.

"The robot that injured the guest... I think the guest was a child."

Could it be that the child did something to the robot, causing it to malfunction?

With this thought, Penelope quickly called Theodore.

The first call didn't go through. She tried again, and this time, he answered after several rings.

"What is it?"

He sounded a little out of breath.

"What are you doing?"

"It's not a good time. I'll call you back."
