The Year I Was the Other Woman To Myself novel Chapter 225

Just then, Mrs. Sullivan came out, drawn by the commotion. Rebecca, still laughing, filled her in.

“Penelope says she’s also getting married on the twenty-sixth, to Theodore Stapleton, the heir to the Stapleton family fortune!”

Rebecca could barely speak through her laughter. “Isn’t that hilarious?”

As expected, Mrs. Sullivan also burst out laughing, even louder than Rebecca and Susan, cackling like a goose.

“You? Marrying Theodore Stapleton? The Stapleton family of the Zenith Group? That Theodore? Haha, even your jokes should have some limits!”

Penelope let them laugh. They thought she was telling a joke, but in her eyes, they were the real clowns.

“The daughter-in-law the Stapleton family chooses will undoubtedly come from an extraordinary background. Even as employees, we don’t know who she is, but it certainly won’t be a nobody like you!” Susan sneered.

“Even our Sullivan family wouldn’t want someone like her, let alone the Stapletons!” Mrs. Sullivan added.

“Penelope, are you having a mental breakdown? Maybe you should see a doctor,” Rebecca said, her voice dripping with fake concern.

“My mind is perfectly fine, and I’m actually quite happy,” Penelope beamed.

“You’ve been caught in a lie, Penelope, and you’re not even a little bit ashamed!” Susan pouted.

“I’m telling the truth. Why should I be ashamed?”

“If you’re really the future Mrs. Stapleton Jr., I’ll run headfirst into a wall right now!”

“No, don’t. Let’s stick to something you can actually do.”

“I’ll quit my job on the spot!”

“Deal. You can go home and write your resignation letter now.”

Susan scoffed. “I think you’ve really lost it!”

Penelope’s eyes narrowed. “What did you come to me for again?”
