The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 989

The two men stood in a quiet corner. Harold spoke first, his voice calm but holding an undeniable edge. "Mr. Gaylord, congratulations. Alexander is an exceptional man. You must be very pleased that he's marrying your daughter. But how can you be sure he doesn't have ulterior motives?"

The hand Vincent Gaylord used to hold his glass paused. His expression remained neutral as he replied, "What do you mean by that, Mr. Chapman? I don't quite understand."

"I don't mean anything by it. Just a passing thought." Harold's lips curled into a slight smile as he glanced at Alexander, who was conversing with guests nearby. "Look at him. He was willing to cast aside his own son. Do you really think he'll treat your daughter with genuine affection?"

Vincent's face shifted, a flicker of alarm in his eyes. "What are you trying to say, Mr. Chapman?"

"Nothing, just a friendly reminder." Harold lowered his voice so only the two of them could hear. "I'm aware of the things you did back at the research institute. You've heard about Alexander's methods, I'm sure. Do you really think he can't find out? Aren't you afraid that one day, the bill for your past actions will come due, and your daughter will be the one to pay it?"

Vincent Gaylord stiffened, his knuckles turning white as he gripped his glass. He studied Harold's face, trying to read his intentions, but found only an unreadable, bottomless calm.

From a distance, Alexander observed the entire exchange but made no move to approach. He knew Harold's nature—seemingly gentle, but sharp as a razor. Once he set his sights on something, he never let go. Alexander was curious to see what Harold hoped to gain from this conversation.

"Look at Harold, and then look at you," Jake said, appearing at Alexander's side. His voice was laced with disappointment. "If you had half his composure and cunning, I could finally rest easy."
