Lorie glanced at Alexander's cold profile, quickly masking the flicker of unease in her eyes with a gentle smile as she looped her arm through his.
“Alright, let’s not talk about that anymore. Let’s go eat before the food gets cold.”
“Oh, by the way, how about we go for our wedding dress fitting tomorrow? The designer said the latest styles are ready, and we’ll have some free time in the afternoon.”
Alexander turned to look at her, his gaze falling on her slightly rounded belly.
“Okay. I’ll go with you tomorrow afternoon.”

Meanwhile, Danielle was in a taxi, heading to Niki's school.
When she arrived at the school gate, she heard a cry.
“Mommy!”
Danielle saw Niki running towards her, backpack bouncing, and throwing herself into her arms.
Danielle bent down to lift her daughter, kissing her on the cheek. “Were you a good girl in school today? Did you listen to your teacher?”
“I was! The teacher even praised my drawing!”
Niki lifted her small face proudly, wrapping her arms around Danielle’s neck and whispering, “Mommy, the parent-teacher conference is tomorrow. Is Daddy coming?”
Danielle’s arms stiffened around her daughter, a complex wave of emotions washing over her.
She remembered mentioning the conference to Alexander before, and he had said he would try his best to make time for it. But now…
He had probably forgotten all about it.
She took a deep breath, stroking Niki’s hair and trying to sound as cheerful as possible. “Daddy’s been really busy with work lately, so he might not have time to come. How about Mommy goes with Niki to the conference tomorrow?”
Niki’s eyes instantly dimmed. She murmured a quiet “oh,” but still nodded.
“Okay… but you have to sit in the very front, Mommy, so the teacher can see you.”
“Of course. Mommy will definitely sit in the front row.”
