The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 916

The black sedan pulled up to the hotel entrance just as the setting sun painted the sky in warm shades of orange.

As Danielle unbuckled her seatbelt, she caught sight of a familiar figure standing by the revolving doors.

Leanne was dressed in a striking red dress, a smirk playing on her lips as she watched their car. She was clearly waiting for them.

Alexander got out first, holding the door for Danielle while his cold gaze swept over Leanne.

Leanne, however, was unfazed. She strode toward them in her high heels, her tone dripping with provocation. “What? You think knowing Director Linden means this is a sure win for you?”

“Let me tell you, this world isn’t so black and white. You are not going to win this lawsuit!”

She deliberately raised her voice, drawing the attention of passersby. It was an obvious attempt to intimidate them and reassert herself after the scene at the coffee shop.

Danielle frowned and was about to retort, but Leanne simply curved her lips into a triumphant smile, turned on her heel, and walked away. The scent of her cloying perfume lingered in the air as the red hem of her dress swished behind her.

“Ignore her,” Alexander said calmly, placing a hand on Danielle’s shoulder. “She’s just bluffing.”

Despite his words, he immediately took out his phone and called Nash, his voice turning serious. “I need you to find out if Leanne is holding back any evidence, especially anything she might try to present in court at the last minute. Dig into it, now.”

After hanging up, they walked into the hotel lobby side by side.

Danielle looked at Alexander’s tense profile and said softly, “The way she was acting so aggressively just now… it almost seemed like she was overcompensating.”

She paused, a hint of worry in her eyes. “But to be that confident, she must think she has some kind of hard evidence. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have gone out of her way to provoke us.”

Alexander stopped and turned to face her, his fingertips gently smoothing the crease between her brows. “You didn’t do it. No amount of false accusations can change that.”

Alexander bent down and scooped her into his arms, kissing her cheek. His tone softened instantly. “Were you a good girl, Niki?”

“Yes!” Niki nodded enthusiastically, then tugged on Danielle’s hand. “Mommy, when are we going to the amusement park?”

Danielle knelt and stroked her daughter’s hair, smiling. “As soon as Mommy finishes up some work, I’ll take you. How does that sound?”

After soothing Niki, she had the nanny take her to her room to sleep, leaving Danielle and Alexander alone in the living room.

Danielle sat on the sofa, her fingers unconsciously toying with a throw pillow, her brow still furrowed. “I’ve been thinking about it this whole time, and I honestly can’t find any oversight.”

“All the technical documents were filed according to procedure, and the only people with access were members of the project team. There’s no reason anything should have been leaked.”
