The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 898

She froze. Who could it be at this hour? She walked to the door and looked through the peephole. It was Larkin, a young engineer from the Aerospace Institute, clutching a laptop and looking anxious.

Danielle opened the door. Larkin immediately held out the computer. "Chief Engineer Crawford, I am so sorry to bother you this late. I've been debugging this flight control system algorithm for hours, but I keep getting errors. The preliminary proposal is due tomorrow, and I'm at my wits' end…"

Danielle glanced at his laptop, then at the clock on the wall, and frowned slightly. It was late, and being alone with a man in her hotel room wasn't appropriate. She stepped aside but kept the door open, gesturing for him to stay in the hallway. "I mentioned a few key points about that algorithm during the meeting today. Try approaching it from that angle first. It's too late now. You should get some rest. If you still have trouble, find me at the temporary office at the conference venue tomorrow morning, and we can look at it together."

Disappointment flickered across Larkin's face, but he understood her position and nodded. "Thank you, Chief Engineer Crawford. I'll see you in the morning." He turned and walked away, his footsteps fading down the corridor.

Danielle closed the door and leaned against it with a soft sigh. As she walked back to her desk, her phone rang. The screen displayed Kirsten's name.

She answered, and Kirsten's cheerful voice came through the line. "Dani, I've got news."

Danielle sat on the sofa, pulling the suit jacket from the back of the chair onto her lap. "What is it?"

"Millie Fletcher's case. It's basically time for sentencing." Kirsten paused, a note of relief in her voice. "I just heard from a colleague. The chain of evidence is complete. They're just waiting to convene for the verdict."
