The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 894

Alexander spoke patiently with the entrepreneurs, a polite smile on his face, but Danielle could see the exhaustion deep in his eyes. She knew this summit was more than just an opportunity to showcase The Davidson Group's strength; it was a grueling battle. He had to re-establish his footing amid a sea of doubt and secure new opportunities for his company.

During a mid-session break, Danielle was at the refreshment station getting some water when she heard a familiar voice behind her. "Danielle."

She turned to find Alexander standing there, his expression complicated. "Are you… doing okay?" His voice was a bit hoarse, likely from his speech.

Danielle nodded, handing him a cup of warm water. "I'm fine. What about you? Those things people were saying earlier…"

"I'm fine," Alexander interrupted, taking a sip of water. "I'm used to it." He paused, looking at her, a hint of hesitation in his voice. "Why… did you come to the summit?"

"The Aerospace Institute sent me to exchange technical insights with other organizations," Danielle explained softly. "Oh, and Gian invited me to be a technical consultant for Ninesky's new drone project. I accepted."

Alexander looked surprised for a moment, then nodded. "That's good. You're brilliant. With your help, the project is sure to succeed."

Silence fell between them again, thick with awkwardness. Danielle wanted to say something, but she couldn't find the words. Just then, a staff member approached to remind Alexander that the next session was about to begin.

Alexander nodded, then looked at Danielle. "I have to go. After the summit… can we talk?"

His smile faded slightly. "I thought we were friends," he said, a note of surprise in his voice. "We worked together a few times when you were at Ninesky, and I thought you approved of my way of doing things." He was deliberately bringing up their past connection to soften her up.

Danielle closed her notebook, her tone calm but firm. "Mr. Chapman, our past collaborations were pleasant, but I'm very clear about my professional commitments. I'm currently leading a national project for the Aerospace Institute and I've also agreed to act as a technical consultant for Ninesky. I simply don't have the capacity for any other partnerships."

She pushed the proposal back toward him, giving him no room to argue. "Thank you for the offer, but I'm really not in a position to take it on."

Harold stared at the rejected proposal, his fingers drumming lightly on the cover.
