The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 841

They hadn't spoken before the meeting, so she had no idea what to expect.

As Danielle stepped out of the conference hall, she saw him standing at the far end of the corridor, a cigarette held loosely between his fingers. Alexander was a tall, imposing figure, his silhouette exuding a cool detachment even from a distance.

She walked over slowly and stood beside him.

"Thank you for what you did back there," she said softly.

Alexander extinguished the cigarette, tossed it into a nearby bin, and turned to face her. "It was nothing. All that matters is that we secured the project."

Danielle looked at him, wanting to say more but finding the words caught in her throat. She knew he would never show her any vulnerability, just as he hadn't all those times before.

She frowned slightly. "Alexander, you don't always have to pretend to be so strong. If you're tired, you can stop and rest. You don't have to carry everything on your own."

His body stiffened for a fraction of a second. He met her gaze, his voice low. "I'm fine. As long as you and Niki are safe, that's all that matters."

Danielle glanced at her watch. "It's already past six. Would you like to get dinner? We could… celebrate the project moving forward."

Alexander turned back to her, his eyes lingering on her face for a moment before he gave a slight nod. "Alright."

They walked out of the Aerospace Institute side by side. The atmosphere wasn't exactly warm, but at least the hostility that had defined their recent encounters was gone.

"Let's go get Niki first," Danielle suggested. "She'll be thrilled to see us pick her up together."

Alexander didn't object, simply starting the car and heading toward the kindergarten.

As the three of them walked toward the parking lot, Niki suddenly tilted her head up at Alexander. "Daddy, when can you and Mommy live together again?"

Alexander's steps faltered, the smile on his face freezing. He clearly hadn't expected the question. He opened his mouth, but no words came out. He could only look helplessly at Danielle.

Danielle was also taken aback for a moment, but she quickly recovered, stroking Niki's hair gently. "After dinner, Mommy will tell you the answer when we get home," she said with a soft smile.

Niki, who always listened to her mother, knew perfectly well that they were divorced and couldn't live together. But seeing her parents together like this gave her a flicker of hope. She had asked the question on purpose.

She nodded firmly at Danielle. "Okay."

Alexander watched Danielle, a complex emotion swirling in his eyes, but he said nothing. He simply opened the car door and helped Niki into her child's safety seat.
