The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 767

Danielle froze when she saw him, surprised he’d shown up at all. After all, she’d made herself perfectly clear that day—she hadn’t expected him to come back.

Alexander met her gaze, his voice low and steady. “I just wanted to stop by. I hope the surgery goes well.”

“Thank you.” Danielle’s reply was cool, but she didn’t ask him to leave.

They stood together in the hallway, the silence between them stretching out.

A few minutes later, a nurse wheeled Clyde’s hospital bed past them, on the way to the operating room. Vivian hurried over, clasping Clyde’s hand tightly. “Don’t be scared. We’ll be right here, waiting for you.”

Clyde looked at both Vivian and Danielle, nodding. “I’m not scared. You shouldn’t worry either.”

His eyes flickered briefly to Alexander, full of complicated emotion, but he said nothing.

The doors to the operating room swung shut. Danielle and Vivian sat together on the hard waiting room chairs, anxiety written all over their faces.

Alexander stayed nearby. He didn’t say a word, but somehow, his presence offered Danielle a strange sense of reassurance.

Time crawled by; every minute felt like an eternity. Vivian kept glancing at her watch, her palms slick with sweat.

Danielle squeezed her mother’s hand and spoke softly, trying to soothe her. “Mom, don’t worry. Uncle Clyde’s going to be just fine.”

Just then, the light above the operating room door switched off, and a doctor emerged. Danielle and Vivian rushed to meet him, hearts in their throats.

The doctor pulled off his mask, breaking into a smile. “The surgery was a success. His vital signs are stable. As long as he gets through the observation period, he should recover well.”

Tears sprang to Danielle and Vivian’s eyes. They were so relieved, they couldn’t even find the words to respond.

Alexander finally allowed himself to breathe again.

Clyde was wheeled back to the intensive care unit for monitoring.

Danielle and Vivian stayed by his bedside, unwilling to leave him for even a moment.

Toward evening, Clyde woke up for a bit. Seeing them there, he managed a faint smile. “I’m alright now…”

“That’s wonderful, Uncle!” Danielle said, grabbing his hand in excitement.
