The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 762

The room fell silent once more. Only the steady tick of the clock echoed, as if counting down to something inevitable.

Sunlight crept slowly across the floor, the shifting line between day and shadow inching up Alexander’s knees, but it did nothing to brighten the darkness in his eyes.

Rebecca knew there was nothing she could say to change his mind.

From the moment Alexander decided to clear the way for Danielle and her mother, he’d stopped caring about his own fate.

In his world, there was no room for himself—only for them.

She stood up and picked up the medical chart from the desk. Her voice was soft, almost tender. “I’ll personally oversee your uncle’s surgery next week.”

Alexander didn’t turn around. He simply murmured, “Thank you.”

Rebecca pushed the door open and stepped out.

As the door clicked shut behind her, she could have sworn she heard the faintest sigh drift from the office—light as a feather, but heavy enough to press painfully against her heart.

She paused in the corridor, gazing out the window.

The clouds were hanging low, swollen with the promise of rain.

Rebecca found herself thinking of what Alexander had said just moments before—“Love is a parabola: marriage is the peak, and from there, it’s all downhill.”

So what about Danielle and him? Had their story always been a parabola without a summit, doomed to decline from the very start until it vanished into darkness?

Rebecca didn’t know the answer.

She only knew this: Alexander was running out of time. And Danielle—she might never realize that the man she hated most was the very one laying down his life to clear her path toward the light.

Early the next morning.

Danielle woke to an empty house. Not a trace of Alexander remained.

Her fingers curled unconsciously. Just before falling asleep last night, she’d noticed the bandage on his left arm—fresh blood had seeped through.

She stared at Alexander’s name on her phone screen, hesitating for a long moment before pressing call.
