The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 741

“Peace and happiness?” Danielle Crawford echoed the words, a cold, bitter laugh slipping from her lips. “So that’s what you’ve twisted my trust and dependence into, Nathan? Something else entirely?”

“I thought what we had was simple—pure, even. Just the bond between a brother and sister. But it turns out, in your mind, that’s never what it was.”

She’d believed Nathan Davidson understood her—the complicated ache she felt for Alexander Davidson, the years of tangled love and pain, the struggle and injustice she’d endured. But now she realized he’d never truly seen her. He’d only projected his own ideas, endlessly speculating about her and Alexander, making it all about his own assumptions.

Danielle stood up, grabbing her coat from the back of the chair. “If you called me here just to talk about this, then there’s really nothing more for us to say.”

Nathan rose as well, brow furrowed in distress. “Danielle, don’t do this, we—”

“There’s nothing left to say.” Danielle cut him off, her voice unwavering. “Let the past stay in the past. From now on, there’s no reason for us to keep in touch.”

With that, she turned and walked away, not a trace of hesitation in her step.

Nathan watched her go, a storm of emotions flickering in his eyes—hurt, regret, confusion—all swirling in the dimness of the room.

Just then, a middle-aged woman stepped out from behind the partition.

“I told you, that woman never had any feelings for you. All those years, she only ever saw you as a brother, but you—your heart was set on her.”

Nathan’s expression hardened. “Mom, I know what I’m doing. You don’t need to keep reminding me.”

She looked at him, frustration in every line of her face. “You’re hopeless. You tried to pit her against Alexander, but did she listen? Even with all that’s happened between them, she still wouldn’t trust you.”

She shook her head. “No, that’s not even right. Their relationship doesn’t need you meddling—it’s already frozen over. And even so, you couldn’t sway her. What do you think that says about how she sees you?”

Nathan’s jaw tightened, his face growing even darker.

“Enough,” he said through gritted teeth. “I know where I stand.”
