The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 694

Alexander’s expression was unusually grim as he lifted his wrist to check the time.

“How long was I asleep?”

Nash hesitated. “I’m not sure, sir. You were already asleep when I came in. You told me not to disturb you, so I left you alone.”

Alexander drew a deep breath, trying to recall when he’d started feeling drowsy—it must have been right after that video conference.

“It’s lunchtime now, and you skipped breakfast. Would you like me to arrange something for you to eat?”

Resting his head wearily on his hand, Alexander shook his head slightly, trying to clear the fog in his mind. The grogginess clung to him—maybe a side effect from sleeping too long. Waking up always left him feeling drained, and lately, the heaviness seemed to settle in his chest as well.

“Just have them bring up something simple. There’s no need to make a fuss.”

Nash pressed his lips together and nodded.

“Why don’t you take a break in the lounge this afternoon, sir? You look exhausted. If you keep pushing yourself like this, it’s bound to catch up with you…”

He truly worried about Alexander’s health, but there was little he could do. At the end of the day, he was just an assistant. How could he override the boss’s will? If Alexander set his mind to something, nobody could talk him out of it.

“That’s not necessary.”

Nash exhaled, then quietly left to take care of the arrangements.

After placing Alexander’s lunch order—another carefully balanced meal, just as he did each day—Nash found himself worrying even more. Despite his best efforts, Alexander was losing weight, growing thinner by the week. The more Nash noticed it, the more uneasy he felt.

When he finished with the order, he dialed Rebecca’s number.

He explained the situation, desperation creeping into his voice. He was out of ideas.

The man’s presence was suffocating. Nash barely managed to answer, “About a month. For the past month, your condition has been… off. I was worried.”

Alexander’s eyes narrowed. “You overstepped. Don’t take matters into your own hands again.”

“If it happens again, you can find another job.”

Nash’s arms trembled as he clenched his fists at his sides.

“Mr. Davidson, your health is more important than your intellect. Have you ever considered that letting your illness run its course could end up affecting your judgment and mental sharpness anyway?”

Alexander’s face remained unreadable.

“So, did you manage to schedule someone else for me to see?” he asked, fixing Nash with a steely gaze. “Or do you think I’m incapable of handling this myself?”
