The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 680

The barrage of accusations echoed through the room, each word landing with the weight of a gavel.

Alexander watched the tense standoff between the two men, his expression calm and impassive. “This has nothing to do with me. You two carry on,” he said, voice steady.

Without waiting for a reply, he turned to leave.

Jake’s voice snapped through the air. “Stop right there. I’m talking about your brother, and you just want to wash your hands of it?”

“I’m stepping down soon. Can’t either of you behave for once and spare me the theatrics?”

Alexander paused mid-step, turning back with dark, unreadable eyes.

“In all these years, I’ve never caused any trouble for you,” he replied coolly. “My divorce from Danielle is between us—it has nothing to do with you.”

His tone was detached as he continued, “Now that your golden boy is back, let him take over tomorrow. I won’t be involved in the family business anymore.”

With that, Alexander turned and walked out, leaving only the sound of Jake’s ragged breathing behind.

Jake’s chest heaved, a wave of dizziness washing over him.

“Dad, Alex has always been responsible, ever since we were kids. The things you’re doing now—they’re breaking his spirit,” Nathan said quietly, trying to soothe the old man. “I have no intention of coming back to work at Davidson & Sons. I don’t want the family fortune. I have my own path to follow. If you just give Alex a way out, he’ll take it.”

Nathan’s voice stayed gentle. “I’m not trying to make things difficult for you. If you want to hand Davidson & Sons to me, I honestly don’t think I could run it half as well as Alex has. He’s kept things running smoothly for years. It’s time he had full control.”

Jake’s face remained cold and unmoved.

He might be the patriarch, but the company shares weren’t even in his name anymore. Alexander was running things as a sort of executive manager—hired help, in a sense.

Nathan dropped his gaze.

“Talk to him tomorrow. If he still refuses, I can step in and handle things until he’s ready to come back.” Nathan’s voice was calm but firm. “Dad, the family’s happiness comes first. Davidson & Sons has always thrived because we stuck together. I don’t want my return to tear us apart.”

He stood by his decision and his conscience. Since coming home, his focus had never been on the family company.

Jake studied him closely. It was clear Nathan had no desire to take over. Not now, when he was already CEO of Vanguard Technologies’ Northridge branch.

“When did you get involved with Vanguard Technologies? Last I heard, you never planned to put down roots in that field. Did your time abroad change your mind?”

Nathan replied, “As the eldest son, I know my responsibilities. Alex has worked tirelessly for the family, and as his brother, I want to be there for him. He handles the company, and I build my own career in the industry. That way, if anything ever happens, I’ll be ready to help—not powerless when it really matters.”
