Everyone’s gifted in their own way.
“Besides, it’s been years since I last saw my brother. I don’t really know what he’s capable of these days, so I can’t judge.”
“So, tell me—now that Vanguard Technologies is opening a branch in Northridge City, do you think I can lead us past the Davidson Group?”
Danielle hesitated. “You’ve always been outstanding, Nathan. I’m sure you’ll steer Vanguard Technologies forward.”
Vanguard Technologies was an old name in the field, a well-established company. Harold Chapman had built it up with skill and reputation. He and Alexander Davidson were equals—powerful rivals in the business world.
It wasn’t impossible to imagine Vanguard Technologies one day surpassing the Davidson Group.
Nathan didn’t say anything for a moment. He simply nodded, then reached over and took the fork from Danielle’s hand, starting to eat.
“Could you ask the doctor later if I’ll be able to leave the hospital in three days? The Northridge branch’s grand opening is then, and I need to be there.”
Danielle frowned. “You shouldn’t push yourself. You’re still recovering, and a big event like that will be chaotic—it’d be easy for someone to bump into you.”
In his current condition, even the slightest jostle could tear his stitches. To show up at a crowded, bustling event was to risk his health.
Nathan replied, “The situation back home has changed. I can’t stay in the hospital forever. I’m restless. If even you doubt my abilities, I have to be even more disciplined.”
For men in this world, it all comes down to power and status. Whether at home or abroad, everyone wants influence in their hands.
Nathan was no exception.
Danielle frowned slightly. Just as Nathan had said, anything from the Davidson Group was a hot potato—everyone wanted a piece of it.
She gave a slight smile. “If you need anything, just ask. But I can’t take on a full-time job with your company. My own work keeps me busy enough, not to mention I have a daughter to care for. I can’t be in two places at once.”
Nathan nodded. “I get it. You’re already running yourself ragged. You only had time to visit me here because I got hurt.”
He paused, then seemed to realize something. “Don’t tell me you’re working while you’re visiting me. If that’s the case, I’ll feel even worse. You shouldn’t push yourself—really, you don’t need to come by anymore.”
He looked over at her. “Niki starts first grade after summer, right? Have you decided which school she’ll go to?”
Danielle had already agreed to move to Nexus Prime, so Niki’s new school would be there. But she wasn’t ready to tell Nathan about her plans to leave just yet.
