She was losing her mind—she simply refused to believe any of this was a lie.
Everyone had always said they were the perfect match, a couple who seemed made for each other.
They were supposed to be that golden couple; the crowd couldn’t be wrong, could they? People always see through facades—no one could fool her!
Alexander’s kindness to her couldn’t have been fake.
Otherwise, why would everyone say he treated her so well?
Staring at Alexander, she pleaded, “Is there some reason you have to push me away? Some secret you can’t tell me?”
But Alexander stood there, cold and distant, not saying a word.
Moments later, two security guards appeared at the door.
The guards grabbed Millie by the arms and began to drag her out. She thrashed in their grip, screaming at the top of her lungs.
“I don’t believe you don’t care about me—not even a little! I don’t believe you never loved me!”
“It’s a lie! All of it! You used to be so good to me, and now you act like I’m nothing? I know it’s not real!”
She no longer cared about her dignity, or the image she used to guard so fiercely.
All the pride she once wore like armor was gone.
The employees of the Davidson Group watched in shock as the woman they once knew—always composed, always looking down on them—was dragged away in hysterics.
After all, she’d always acted like she was above everyone else, barely bothering to acknowledge their existence. Now, she was a mess, desperate and broken.
Millie had hit rock bottom. By tomorrow, her reputation in the research community would be in ruins.
And not just here—she’d be finished everywhere.
Alexander hadn’t given her the slightest sliver of hope; he’d cut off every escape, blocked every possibility she might have imagined.
She couldn’t think of any other way out. She was completely and utterly defeated.
“Alexander! I know what you care about most—don’t let me find your weakness!” she screamed, her voice echoing down the Davidson Group’s hallway, fading from Alexander’s sight.
His dark eyes were unfathomable as he watched her go.
He lowered his gaze and dialed a number on his phone.

When Danielle heard that Millie had been thrown out, she was stunned.
Kirsten held out her phone. “Look at this—there’s video. She’s completely lost it, screaming and being dragged out. Honestly, I think she’s lost her mind.”
Danielle watched the clip, frowning. “This isn’t how I remember it looked.”
He’d even welcomed Nathan back with grace, throwing a welcome party that made waves in the business press.
Everyone had expected the start of a bitter family feud for control of the company.
No one had seen this harmonious scene coming.
Kirsten turned to Danielle. “Dani, you know him better than anyone. What do you think he’s really after?”
“Men always want power. After taking the Davidson Group this far, is he really going to just hand everything over so easily?”
Danielle shook her head. She wanted no part of the Davidson family drama.
“I’m not him. Everyone thinks differently. I can’t analyze his motives, and frankly, his choices have nothing to do with me. I don’t want to overthink it.”
If she could understand him that well…
She would have won his heart long ago.
Kirsten frowned. “But you do realize you own a significant chunk of Davidson Group stock, right? What if Nathan’s only getting close to you for that?”
“You hold ten percent. That’s not a small amount. Is Alexander only stepping aside because you have those shares?”
She blinked, thinking it over. “But you and Nathan get along well. If he asked you for those shares or wanted to form an alliance, you’d probably agree, wouldn’t you?”
Kirsten rubbed her arms, uneasy. “If that’s the case, then Alexander really is just giving up the Davidson Group. Doesn’t it all seem a little too smooth? It’s almost unsettling—I’m getting chills just thinking about it...”
