The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 540

“Alex, come here for a second.”

Alexander walked over, and the two of them disappeared backstage together.

No one knew what they talked about behind those doors.

Kirsten watched, curiosity flickering in her eyes.

“What’s going on? He seems really close with Chairman White.”

Gian shrugged. “The Davidsons are practically royalty. It’s not surprising he knows everyone who matters. He’s got a hell of a father, after all.”

That was true.

Jake Davidson held serious influence—his connections spanned the upper echelons of society.

Alexander had grown up surrounded by power and privilege, which made Gian wonder aloud, “I just don’t get how he turned out like this—his moral compass is totally off.”

From across the room, Nathan watched Alexander and Chairman White walk backstage together, his gaze thoughtful and unreadable.

Someone nearby broke the silence. “Miss Crawford is as outstanding as ever—no surprises there. She hasn’t changed a bit.”

Nathan’s eyes softened with pride and genuine admiration when he heard Danielle’s name.

“She’s always been remarkable. I couldn’t be prouder of her.”

This wasn’t just any awards ceremony. Tonight, there were honors from the hosts, as well as a special recognition from the National Research Institute.

Danielle had just received an official invitation to join the Institute.

“Please welcome our guest presenter,” the emcee announced, microphone in hand.

Across the stage, a man stepped forward, carrying the trophy.

He was dressed in a sleek black suit, looking both distinguished and enigmatic.

Danielle blinked, caught off guard when she realized who the guest presenter was.

Alexander noticed a shimmering ribbon resting on her head. He reached out to take it.

Danielle instinctively tensed and stepped back, her eyes hardening as she glared at him.

Alexander just gave a slight, crooked smile.

He opened his palm to reveal the gold streamer he’d plucked from her hair.

Looking at her, he said quietly, “A little good luck.”

Down in the audience, people whispered and exchanged glances.

An ex-couple, meeting like this on stage? The whole thing felt oddly surreal.

Kirsten frowned at the spectacle.

“What a mess! What’s he doing up there, sticking his nose in?”
