The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 529

“Where’s my brother?” Alexander glanced at Danielle, who was sitting in heavy silence. “You seem awfully close with your ex-sister-in-law these days. What’s your plan?”

Danielle stiffened at his words, feeling every syllable laced with contempt.

She leveled a cool gaze at Alexander. “Is that what you think? That I’m having an affair with your brother?”

His mind was always in the gutter.

Alexander’s expression paused, taken aback by her defiance.

Nathan spoke up, his tone steady. “There’s nothing between Danielle and me but family. Alex, don’t overthink it.” He tugged at the corner of his mouth, glanced at his watch, and then turned to Danielle. “I’ve got a few things to take care of. Let’s grab lunch together at noon.”

Danielle nodded slightly.

Once Nathan left, Alexander’s eyes lingered on her, his gaze unreadable.

“So, are you happy now that my brother’s back?” His question was deceptively calm.

She met his look. “I am, actually. You, on the other hand, don’t seem thrilled.”

Word got around, after all.

Jake was never someone who tolerated any threats to his authority; his eldest son had always mattered more. Nathan’s return could only mean he was here for a stake in the Davidson family business.

Maybe Alexander was just testing how much power he still held. If he handed over the company without a fight, everything Millie had would lose its foundation—there’d be no one left to back him up.

Alexander’s gaze deepened, his voice even. “And what about you? Got any thoughts on all this?”

Danielle knew exactly what he meant.

She took a sip of water, set her glass down, and looked at him, her voice steady. “If you ask me, your brother’s better suited to lead. At least he wouldn’t abuse his authority the way you have.”

Her words were sharp, her meaning unmistakable.

Alexander didn’t take offense. He simply offered a cold, indifferent smile.

“You always did know how to take his side,” he said, voice flat, eyes chilly. “Ever wonder why Vanguard Technologies suddenly switched loyalties?”

“Keegan was your idea?” Danielle caught on instantly.

Keegan and Alexander ran in the same circles. They were more than acquaintances—they were friends. Throughout all the drama between her and Alexander, Liam and Millie were always ready with their snide remarks, but Keegan never said a word.

Last time, when St. Ann’s refused their proposal, it was Liam who’d goaded Keegan into spreading rumors. After that, Keegan had reached out to her himself.

Alexander didn’t answer, but his silence was answer enough.

After a long pause, he spoke again. “Have you ever actually looked at the shareholder structure of Newsworld?” Alexander asked.

Danielle frowned.

The truth was, she’d never had the time to look over it closely. She left that kind of thing to the management team, and staff turnover at Newsworld was minimal.

She said nothing, but Alexander could already tell.

He spoke slowly, deliberately. “The Davidson Group owns shares in Newsworld.”
