The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 506

She looked down at Niki, who seemed to be the center of everyone’s affection, utterly spoiled and adored.

Millie’s hand, hanging at her side, clenched tightly into a fist.

No matter what, that girl was Alexander’s own flesh and blood.

Even if Alexander favored Raffy all he wanted—

Raffy and Alexander shared not a drop of blood.

Millie stared at them coldly for a long moment before finally looking away.

Danielle moved with Niki into their new home.

Niki’s room was much bigger now—a cozy space that doubled as a bedroom and a study, giving her a quiet place all her own.

Danielle was packing her suitcase for a business trip.

They’d moved in early, ahead of schedule. The original plan was to wait until Danielle got back from her trip, but since their old lease was up, they decided to settle in sooner rather than later.

“Grandma’s coming to pick you up tomorrow,” Danielle told her daughter. “You’ll be staying with her for a little while.”

“Is your trip going to be long, Mom?” Niki blinked up at her. “Can I come with you this time?”

Danielle smiled softly, brushing a hand over her daughter’s hair. “I’ll be back in a day or two. Just stay with Grandma and be good, okay? Listen to her while I’m gone.”

She was headed out of state, partly for work, and partly to look into organ transplant resources for her brother—she’d heard there might be help available there.

Niki, always obedient, nodded quietly. She didn’t press the issue.

Early the next morning, Vivian Linden pulled up to take Niki.

“I’ll drive you to the airport,” Vivian said.

That was why Danielle was so anxious to go out of state as soon as she heard there might be a chance. She hadn’t told her mother about it, though—there was no point in getting her hopes up over something so uncertain.

If her brother’s health improved, if the surgery worked, their lives could finally turn a corner. That was the future Danielle longed for.

Vivian knew there was no persuading her.

“Just be careful, and call me as soon as you get there,” she said. “Don’t forget to eat regular meals—don’t let work distract you from taking care of yourself. You know you’ve got stomach problems, not to mention the low blood sugar. Out there on your own, with no one to look after you, I can’t help worrying.”

Danielle knew full well the state of her health. She couldn’t afford to neglect her meals—not when she was the backbone of her family, the one her mother and daughter relied on. She couldn’t let herself fall.

Sometimes, she felt as if the world was watching, waiting for her to stumble. If she really did go down, she couldn’t begin to imagine the consequences.

She looked at her mother and gave a small, reassuring nod.

For the first time in a long while, she could feel the kindness of the people around her, could sense real happiness blooming in her life.

At times, it all felt almost unreal.
