The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 416

There was no doubt in Danielle’s mind—this was all orchestrated by Alexander.

She had no interest in getting into pointless arguments with them over something so trivial. Since it didn’t really matter, she let it go.

Not long after, Danielle received a piece of good news: her newly published research paper had just been accepted by a top academic journal.

When Academician Gresham and Mr. Hawthorne heard, they called her immediately to congratulate her.

It was the first step on a new journey.

The paper itself was a continuation of her earlier work—more detailed, more innovative. People in the field were already reading and discussing it, sparking fresh academic debate.

Hearing this, Danielle finally felt a weight lift from her chest. She took a deep breath and glanced out the window. Lush green trees lined the street, birds darted between branches, insects hummed in the thick summer air. Everything outside felt vibrant, brimming with the energy of a new beginning.

On the day of the Davidson Group’s anniversary gala, the city’s elite gathered in droves. It was the premier social event of the year, drawing not just industry leaders but even the patriarchs and matriarchs of old-money families.

Jake Davidson had just returned from a business trip for the occasion.

That morning, Danielle received a same-day delivery. She frowned at the elegant gift box—she hadn’t ordered anything.

A moment later, Alexander called.

His voice was calm and detached. “Your dress and accessories for the anniversary gala are ready. You have an hour to get ready—the driver will pick you up soon.”

He didn’t ask if she wanted to go. Everything was decided, as always—cold, forceful, uncompromising.

Danielle looked down at the gift box in her hands and opened it. Inside was a pale blue evening gown, exquisitely tailored, and a jade hairpin—both beautiful, both carefully chosen.

She only replied quietly, “Okay.”

“She’s gorgeous—who is she? Is she a guest of the Davidson family? I’ve never heard of someone like her in our circles… She’s breathtaking!”

Millie heard the whispers and her eyes turned cold. That woman—always stealing the spotlight.

Raffy, standing at Millie’s side, was awestruck too. After all these years living with his mother, he’d never seen her like this. For a moment, she looked almost otherworldly—a fairy among mortals. He stared, wide-eyed, unable to look away.

Alexander’s expression remained cool as ice.

Bianca muttered under her breath, “What does she think she’s doing? Parading herself around like this—as the daughter-in-law of a prominent family, at that! She looks no different from one of those old-time actresses, showing off for the rich men. People will think she’s trying to catch the eye of some big shot—maybe she wants to break into show business.”

Alexander shot Bianca a look, his voice low and sharp. “Mother.”

Paula Davidson glanced at Alexander. “What—are we not allowed to say anything now? Honestly, she should know better. If she wants to make an impression, she could at least dress appropriately. Didn’t you pick out an outfit for her? It doesn’t matter how pretty she is—this dress looks cheap. And she dares to show up like this and embarrass the Davidson family?”

“Women’s minds are always on the wrong things.”
