The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 385

Leanne drew a deep breath.

“Mr. Northrop, I admit I made a mistake. I was so caught up in the idea of fairness, so determined to stand up for the kids who’d been cheated.”

“After all, there are far too many people in this world who get ahead through backdoor deals. That’s the kind of person I despise most, and in the heat of the moment, I got carried away.”

She frowned at Caleb. “Besides, you can’t take everything a child says at face value. Kids tend to exaggerate.”

Caleb arched an eyebrow. “Are you telling me you know my son better than I do? I’m perfectly capable of telling when he’s embellishing the truth.”

Millie closed her eyes for a moment, exasperated.

“Mom, can you just stop talking?” she said quietly.

Stepping forward, Millie faced Caleb with the utmost respect, her tone sincere. “We at Intellectech truly want to collaborate with you. We’ll send the project proposal to The Northrop Group headquarters. Once you’ve reviewed it, we hope you’ll make your decision.”

She had barely finished speaking when Vivian arrived.

“Grandma!” Niki’s face lit up instantly. She dashed over, beaming.

Niki was always affectionate.

Vivian knelt down and scooped Niki into her arms. “I heard someone got first place today, sweetheart! I came over to celebrate with you. Tonight, whatever you want for dinner, it’s yours. And that surprise toy set you’ve been wanting? Grandma will get it for you.”

“Really?” Niki could hardly contain her excitement, waving her arms with glee.

“Of course, darling.”

Vivian gave her a gentle pat on the back and set her down, then turned her gaze toward Caleb.

“Mr. Northrop.” Vivian walked straight over to him.

Caleb regarded her, a faint smile on his lips.

“I’m Vivian from SoarCorp. We met at the government summit a while back.”

“You and I barely know each other. It wouldn’t be right to write me off based on a single incident.”

She was trying to play the fairness card, hoping to appeal to his sense of morality.

Caleb’s eyes were cold as he looked at her. “The Northrop Group is indeed all about fairness.”

Leanne’s face lit up with hope.

But in the very next breath, Caleb’s voice turned icy. “But we do not work with people of questionable character.”

Leanne felt a chill stab through her heart, as if she’d been plunged into freezing water.

Her lips parted, desperate to defend herself.

Millie opened her mouth too, hoping to plead her mother’s case. Their projects had been hitting snag after snag; they couldn’t afford to lose this opportunity.

But before either of them could speak, Caleb cut them off coldly, dashing any last hope. “Regardless of what happened today, Intellectech was never under consideration.”
