The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 350

He was probably supposed to pick Baillie up from the hospital himself.

When Leanne saw Danielle, her face twisted with displeasure.

Millie clenched her jaw. “Mom—”

“I’m sorry!” Leanne blurted out, her apology stiff and insincere as she glanced at Danielle.

The sharp tone caught Alexander’s attention, and he glanced over from where he was on the phone.

Danielle arched an eyebrow, a hint of amusement tugging at her lips. “That’s your idea of an apology?”

Leanne gritted her teeth again, casting a nervous glance at the man standing nearby. Then she turned back to Danielle. “I’m sorry.”

Danielle didn’t reply. She simply turned and walked away.

“She’s so high and mighty! All this drama over one little thing!” Leanne fumed, nearly shaking with anger. “First I get slapped for no reason, then I have to pay up, and now I have to apologize—unbelievable.”

Vivian spotted Danielle approaching.

“How’d you settle it? They’re actually moving out today. I’ve already arranged for your uncle’s room upgrade.” Vivian’s tone was brisk. “Once they leave and the room’s cleaned, we’ll bring your uncle over.”

Danielle looked at her uncle lying pale in the hospital bed.

“As long as he’s safe, nothing else matters.”

Meanwhile, Baillie slipped away quietly, thankful her uncle hadn’t seen her leaving in disgrace.

“You still don’t look well. Why not take a few days off?” Vivian suggested.

Danielle shook her head.

The government’s second-phase project was about to kick off. She’d be busy for a while.

On top of that, Mr. Hawthorne’s aerospace satellite project had scheduled a joint research meeting with an academician. She’d need to meet with them in the next day or two.

After checking on her uncle, Danielle stood to leave.

Just as she stepped out of the hospital, her phone rang. It was Gian.

“The phase-two kickoff is at ten this morning. All the project leads will be there—don’t be late.”

“Okay.” Danielle checked the time: nine a.m. She’d have plenty of time to drive over.

“Where are you? I’ll pick you up. There’s something I need to discuss with you—in person.”

Gian sounded unusually serious.

Danielle knew then that this wasn’t a trivial matter.

Soon enough, Gian’s car pulled up outside the hospital.

Danielle climbed in. “What’s so important you couldn’t just say it over the phone?”

Gian gripped the steering wheel, eyes fixed ahead as he drove toward Newsworld Tower.

Newsworld was the project’s major investor, holding all the real power, so meetings like this were always hosted there.

“AetherX Dynamics ran into trouble.”

Danielle shook her head. She was probably overthinking it. Alexander had only meant she shouldn’t bother fighting Millie for every deal.

Gian said, “Two partners crashing back-to-back is a disaster for a new company. This is going to hit her hard.”

Even if she’d managed to resolve the million-dollar mess with Mr. Linden, project delays were the real problem.

After today’s meeting, she’d have to submit a progress report to the higher-ups. It wasn’t something the partners could settle on their own.

Danielle and Gian arrived at Newsworld Tower.

Plenty of familiar faces recognized Danielle on her way in. Seeing her representing Ninesky now, they couldn’t hide their surprise.

From assistant to partner—no wonder she’d insisted on quitting her old job. People do move up in the world.

Millie and Liam were already seated in the conference room.

Danielle and Gian entered; Millie barely glanced their way, offering no greeting. In the past, she might have said a word or two, but after Danielle had embarrassed her at the last seminar, Millie kept her distance.

Gian found it almost funny. With everything crashing down around her, Millie still had the nerve to show up for this meeting.

Soon, the other project leads filed in, along with government officials sent to observe.

Once everyone was seated, the assistant pushed open the conference room doors, and Alexander strode in with purpose.

“Thank you all for waiting.” He took a seat, his gaze sweeping the room. “Let’s begin the progress reports. Ninesky, you’re up first.”

He looked calmly at Danielle. “You may start.”
