The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 334

“Bring it in.”

The food was piping hot, the steam curling in the air.

After setting the dishes on the table, the maid slipped out quietly without lingering.

Alexander looked at her. “You haven’t eaten all day. Once you’ve had dinner, I’ll take you home.”

“I drove myself here,” Danielle replied, her tone making it clear she neither wanted nor needed his company.

“I’ll have someone drive your car back to your apartment,” Alexander said coolly. “You’re in no shape to drive right now.”

“If you’re so eager to risk your life, don’t drag Niki into it,” Danielle shot back, frowning.

She lowered her gaze to the meal set before her—each dish was one of her favorites.

“Did Grandma have this sent over?” she asked quietly.

Alexander stood by the window, his tone indifferent. “Who else but Grandma would know what you like?”

Danielle certainly didn’t flatter herself into thinking he’d gone to the trouble.

Even if he had, it would just be for show in front of his grandmother.

“You don’t have to stay here,” Danielle said, picking up her fork.

Alexander didn’t respond. He simply turned and walked out, not even glancing her way.

He clearly didn’t enjoy spending time with her, and Danielle could feel it acutely.

They’d gone from strangers to something worse—two people who now found each other exhausting.

As Danielle was pushing her food around, Niki burst in, hugging her tablet to her chest.

“Whose tablet is that?” Danielle asked.

“Dad’s—” Niki set the device aside and hurried over. “Mom, are you feeling better?”

“Did you change the wallpaper?” Danielle asked.

Niki shook her head. “It’s Dad’s old tablet. Grandma’s been using it lately. Maybe she changed it.”

She’d been surprised herself when she first saw it. After all, Dad had never been interested in her life—why would he set her picture as his wallpaper?

Danielle nodded slightly; that made sense. Alexander would never have chosen Niki’s photo for his lock screen.

Still feverish and with little appetite, Danielle barely touched her food before setting her fork down for good.

She tidied up and headed downstairs to say goodbye to Grandma.

On the way down, she ran into Bianca.

“Sleeping half the day away—are you planning to play princess now that you’re back at the family home?” Bianca snapped. “You didn’t help out with the holiday cooking, and now you’re heading out right after dinner?”

Niki scowled at her grandmother’s harsh words, her small fists clenched in silent protest.
