The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 313

There was something odd about the way they interacted—distant, yet strangely familiar.

Danielle, however, couldn’t care less.

She left with Harold, slipping into the car beside him.

Kirsten and Gian were already waiting inside.

Kirsten turned to Danielle with a playful glint in her eyes. “I was just saying I should be the one to pick you up, but Mr. Chapman insisted on coming himself. Said it would be more sincere. So, we just lounged in the car and waited. You’re not mad I didn’t greet you personally, are you?”

“Of course not,” Danielle replied with a polite smile.

Kirsten was sharp; it was clear she’d picked up on the subtle way Harold treated Danielle differently.

He really wasn’t trying to hide it.

Kirsten grinned. “I saw you and Alexander coming out of the same elevator. Did you two run into each other?”

Danielle turned her head and gazed out the window, her voice calm. “We’re staying at the same hotel. It’s not that strange to bump into each other.”

Harold watched her profile, trying to read her. Danielle’s expression gave little away, but he could sense a hint of something beneath the surface.

He spoke softly. “Miss Crawford, is there some special connection between you and Mr. Davidson?”

The question caught Danielle off guard for a moment.

She’d almost forgotten there was someone in the car who was good at reading between the lines.

She pulled her gaze back from the window, meeting Harold’s eyes. “No, just a professional relationship. We’ve worked together, that’s all.”

Kirsten chimed in then, turning to Harold. “Mr. Chapman, you and Alexander seemed pretty close. I’ve been wanting to ask since that day at the spa—what’s the story there? You two have history?”

Harold gave a cool, almost amused smile. “Not much to tell. We were on the same team once, but then we each went our separate ways.”

“Oh, really?” Kirsten pressed, eager for gossip. “So what kind of guy is Alexander? Did he date a lot back then? Any romantic baggage?”

Inside, Danielle noticed everyone was dressed up, and suddenly felt a little underdressed herself.

All the women were in elegant dresses, looking stunning.

She glanced at Gian. “You could’ve told me this was going to be a mini-gala.”

Harold caught her eye, his smile reassuring. “Don’t worry about it. This is my event, after all. Ninesky Technologies and Vanguard Technologies are partners, and I wanted to introduce you to a few people. Who knows—we might all meet at the top someday.”

Danielle hesitated, taken aback by how much Harold had arranged behind the scenes.

It was almost hard to believe.

The room was filled with familiar faces—Harold had clearly invited nearly everyone involved in the tournament. He was the perfect host, making sure everyone felt welcome.

After all, Vanguard Technologies was the industry leader here in the South, and with so many people in town for the competition, it only made sense for him to play the gracious host.

Just then, Harold’s assistant approached, leaning in to whisper something in his ear.
