The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 278

They needed to find out exactly what had caused the brakes to fail.

Gian’s heart was still pounding wildly in his chest.

His face was tense. “That scared the hell out of me.”

After watching those harrowing moments unfold, his mind had gone completely blank.

One thing was clear, though: Alexander was genuinely willing to risk his life for Millie.

Gian took a deep breath, trying to calm himself as he checked Danielle over, head to toe.

He didn’t see any obvious injuries.

“Let’s get you checked out at the hospital, just to be safe,” he said.

There could always be something they couldn’t see.

“I’m really fine,” Danielle replied. “Aside from the rush of adrenaline, I don’t feel any discomfort at all.”

She lowered her gaze to the drops of blood on the floor.

Judging by the looks of it, Alexander’s injury was serious.

He’d truly almost died saving Millie.

Danielle drew a shaky breath and looked away.

The car was towed to the dealership for a thorough inspection.

The police needed to reach out to Alexander for follow-up on the accident.

Even after she got home that night, Danielle couldn’t shake the lingering anxiety.

“Try not to dwell on it,” Gian said gently. “Maybe it was just a mechanical fault.”

“Yeah,” she murmured.

That was the only explanation she could accept.

When Kirsten heard about the accident, she immediately called Danielle, voice trembling with worry.

She only relaxed when she was sure Danielle was really alright.

Still, Danielle couldn’t help wondering how Alexander was doing.

After all, she’d walked away unscathed.

She thought about calling, but in the end, she just washed up and got ready for bed.

The next morning, the police called and asked her to come to the hospital to deal with the aftermath of the accident.

“What do you need from me?” Danielle paused, confused.

“It was my suggestion for Millie to take your car. She got hurt—I’ll take responsibility,” Alexander said. “Saving her was my own choice. Any damages, I’ll cover.” He lifted a brow. “How about a brand-new BMW to replace yours?”

He was all business.

For a second, Danielle wanted to thank him, but the words stuck in her throat.

She was the one who’d benefited; she should be grateful. But Alexander was making it clear: business is business, and gratitude wasn’t necessary.

His meaning was obvious.

He’d saved Millie, not her. Everything else should be handled as it ought to be.

He’d already made himself clear—if she insisted, it would just seem pretentious.

So Danielle simply nodded.

She glanced at his bandaged hand and asked, “Just your right hand? What did the doctor say?”

Alexander replied calmly, “It’s nothing serious. Just a minor fracture.”

So everything else was fine.

Danielle nodded. “Alright, see you at city hall tomorrow. That won’t be a problem, will it?”
