The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 1463

Alex's tone was entirely casual, as if they were just an ordinary family out for dinner. He picked up the menu and handed it to Danielle, his movements smooth and devoid of any tension.

Yet Danielle could distinctly feel his hand, hidden beneath the table, balling into a tight fist. His entire body maintained a coiled posture, ready to spring up and handle an emergency at a second's notice.

His eyes appeared to be reading the menu, but in reality, he was taking in every shift in the restaurant, capturing every micro-expression of the suspicious guests.

Those people still weren't reeling in their stares.

At one table sat two men in dark jackets. They kept their heads down, pretending to text, but their phone screens remained pitch black. Their focus was entirely zeroed in on Alex's table.

At another table sat a man and a woman playing the part of a couple. They had ordered a massive spread of food but had barely touched a bite. Every time they looked up to take a sip of water, their gazes would accurately sweep over Danielle and the kids.

They didn't approach. They didn't speak. They made no sudden moves. They just watched in silence, like wolves lurking in the shadows, patiently biding their time for the perfect strike.

This silent surveillance was far more terrifying than a direct threat.

Niki was too young to understand the undercurrents between the adults. She just felt the atmosphere was a bit heavy and asked in her sweet, soft voice, "Daddy, when are we going to eat?"

Raffy, however, was far more perceptive.

Having endured so much instability and fear growing up, the boy had a preternatural instinct for malice and danger.

He sat quietly, his little hands gripping the hem of his shirt. His brows were slightly furrowed as his eyes darted toward the strange guests, a flicker of hidden fear flashing in his gaze.

"We'll eat real soon."

Danielle forced down the panic rising in her chest and offered a warm smile, gently stroking the children's hair. "Mommy's going to order something delicious for you."

She picked up the menu, but her fingers were so stiff she could barely make out the names of the dishes.

Alex continued his silent observation of the watchers.

They were dressed in ordinary clothes with no distinguishing marks. Their movements were subtle and calculated. They were clearly trained professionals, not your run-of-the-mill thugs or thieves.

And the only person who would be tracking their family of four at this specific time and place was Harold. There was no other possibility.

It seemed Raffy's mention of the castle in the mountains wasn't just a figment of his imagination.

Harold wasn't just hiding in these woods; he already knew they were here and had dispatched his men to keep tabs on them.

That sudden, torrential downpour on the mountain road earlier might not have been a coincidence after all.

Alex's heart sank inch by inch.

The enemy hadn't made a move yet, likely because they didn't want to blow their cover in a restaurant full of witnesses and security cameras.

They were waiting for the right moment. Waiting for them to leave the restaurant, return to their room, or step outside the hotel.

Out there, there would be no witnesses, no cameras. The stormy night would provide the perfect cover.

If they fell into Harold's hands, the consequences would be unimaginable.

Especially Danielle and the kids—they were his biggest weakness and the easiest targets for the enemy.
