The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 1345

"Why would he stay up all night guarding your hospital bed without catching a wink of sleep? Trust me, he just hasn't figured out his own feelings yet."

Kirsten fell silent, her mind spinning into a chaotic mess.

She remembered the sheer panic in Gian's eyes as he dragged her out of the water,

remembered his trembling fingers as he pumped her chest to revive her,

and remembered the exhausted but undeniably tender look on his face while he watched over her in the hospital.

The memories flashed through her brain like a movie reel, forcing her stubborn heart to soften.

But she still couldn't bring herself to believe it.

Her and Gian's dynamic was built entirely on a ridiculous fake marriage arrangement. She was terrified that catching real feelings would destroy the fragile balance they had, leaving them unable to even be friends.

"Let's just drop it."

Kirsten rubbed her face. "Do you want to grab a drink?"

"I'm going crazy cooped up in here. Gian went to the office to handle some business, so he's not home."

Danielle hesitated. Kirsten had literally just been discharged from the hospital, and alcohol was the last thing her recovering body needed.

But knowing how much emotional baggage her friend was carrying, she figured blowing off a little steam couldn't hurt.

"Just go easy on the booze," she warned. "I'll meet you."

They met up at a quiet lounge with dim, ambient lighting and soft music playing in the background.

Kirsten was already seated at a table, nursing a low-ABV fruit cocktail.

Danielle slid into the booth across from her and ordered the same thing.

"What's with the sudden craving for alcohol?" Danielle asked with an easy smile.

Kirsten took a slow sip of her drink, a bitter edge shining in her eyes. "My chest just feels so tight."

"Am I totally pathetic? I'm obviously crazy about him, but I don't have the guts to say a damn word."
