The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 1163

They hadn't expected such a spectacle at a formal government conference, much less that Vincent and Lorie Gaylord were of such low moral character.

Lorie looked at the scornful faces and listened to the damning murmurs, feeling the world spin around her. She knew she was finished. Not only had she failed to crush Danielle and Alexander, but she had also exposed her family's dirty laundry to the world. She would never be able to show her face in this industry again.

Her head snapped toward Harold. If he hadn't encouraged her, feeding her this terrible idea, she wouldn't be in this position.

Harold felt her glare but kept his eyes fixed forward, his expression cold and detached.

Danielle, standing beside Alexander, watched the scene unfold with a sense of clarity. She glanced at Alexander and found him already looking at her, his eyes soft with apology and tenderness.

"I'm sorry," Alexander said in a low voice, meant only for her ears. "I'm sorry you had to go through that."

Danielle shook her head gently, a smile of relief touching her lips. "It's okay. All that matters is that the truth is out."

Lorie finally collapsed, her legs giving out. She crumpled to the floor, tears streaming down her face, but this time, no one felt any sympathy. Her sobs sounded jarring in the large hall, only adding to her humiliation.

Security guards quickly approached and hauled the limp Lorie to her feet, escorting her out of the room. She struggled and cried out, her voice fading into the distance.

Harold watched her being led away, his face like stone. He knew that with Lorie's downfall, he could be next. If Alexander could dig up her scandal, he surely had plenty of leverage on him as well.

Alexander's gaze fell on Harold, and a faint, knowing smile played on his lips. Harold returned it with a tight, forced smile of his own.

The crowd began to disperse. Danielle and Alexander lingered behind, quietly discussing the next steps for the project. Kirsten and Gian followed them, making no mention of the dramatic showdown in the conference hall. Lorie's breakdown, the exposed scandal, Harold's humiliation—it all seemed to be washed away by the sudden downpour.

At the lobby entrance, Kirsten stared at the sheets of rain pouring from the sky. She turned to Danielle. "Are you riding with Alexander?"

"Mhm," Danielle nodded, gesturing to Alexander beside her. "We have a few more things to sync up on at the office." She then looked at Gian, her tone natural. "Gian, would you mind giving Kirsten a ride?"

"Of course," Gian replied with a nod. "Don't worry."

Danielle smiled at Kirsten before following Alexander to the black sedan waiting at the curb. The car door opened and closed, and the vehicle slowly pulled into the curtain of rain, quickly disappearing from sight.
