The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 1066

Danielle pressed, a growing unease tightening in her chest.

“Because the Gaylords realized I was investigating them,” Alexander’s eyes darkened, “and they’ve become cautious. They probably think you and I are still involved, so they’re trying to threaten you to get me to back off.”

“The open window at your apartment, being followed in the parking garage… it was likely the Gaylords’ people.”

Danielle’s heart hammered against her ribs. She stared at Alexander, searching for any sign of deception, but he had no reason to lie. “Then why didn’t you tell me sooner?”

“After you asked for a divorce,” he said, looking at her, “you weren’t willing to have a real conversation with me.”

The living room fell silent again. Danielle gazed out at the night sky, her thoughts a tangled mess. Alexander’s words were like a key, unlocking a dozen questions that had plagued her, but they also revealed the terrifying truth: she and Niki were caught in a dangerous whirlpool.

She took a deep breath and looked up at him. “So, what’s the solution?” This was her mess to deal with.

Alexander’s expression was grave. “I’ve already explained many things about Millie. The matter with my mentor has always weighed heavily on my conscience,” he said, his tone heavy. “I used her and Raffy as a shield because you and Niki were in too much danger. You know Raffy isn’t Alistair’s son; he’s Millie’s child with someone else. You practically raised him, so you know his character. Whether you believe it or not, he’s a deeply manipulative child. I tried to guide him, but it was no use.”

“I never wanted to hurt you intentionally. I just used to think you were in love with Nathan Davidson, and that you and Niki leaving was the best and most inevitable outcome. It was only later I realized it was all a massive misunderstanding.”
