Chapter 376
Chapter 376
After Sana left, Jessica leaned back in her chair, feeling utterly exhausted.
Jessica thought, ‘I’ve tried so hard to stay away, so why couldn’t I escape all this?‘
Thoughts swirled in her head, leaving her in a foul mood all day.
When she finally made it to the end of the workday, she grabbed her phone and headed out.
Brian, waiting downstairs at Grant Group, saw her come out and instinctively stepped forward. “Jessi…”
“Get lost.” Jessica, already in a foul temper, heard the voice of Brian, one of the people to blame, and snapped without thinking, spinning around to yell
at him.
Brian froze. “Jessi, you…”
“When will you stop? I already told you to…” Jessica, getting more annoyed as he kept pestering, turned to push him.
But whether she moved too fast or the sun was too blazing, everything went black and she collapsed straight toward the ground.
“Jessi!” Brian’s eyes grew wide with terror. He took a quick step forward and caught her.
Jessica leaned against his chest, taking a while to recover. She pressed hard on her forehead, feeling her strength slowly coming back, and then pushed
Brian away.
“Leave me alone.” She tried to turn and leave, but Brian picked her up in his arms.
“What are you doing?” Jessica froze.
When she came to her senses, she instinctively tried to struggle. But she’d nearly fainted from low blood sugar and still hadn’t fully recovered.
Even if she struggled as hard as she could, she was weak.
Brian seemed to go back to his old stubborn self, ignoring her refusals and struggles. He carried her to his car and drove straight to the hospital for a check–up.
Jessica was so angry that she almost laughed. But once they got to the hospital, she didn’t walk out.
‘Since I’m already here, a check–up would be good,‘ she thought, touching her stomach, with obvious worry in her eyes.
“It’ll be okay,” Brian said, putting a hand on her shoulder.
Jessica pulled herself free and walked into the exam room.
The check–up showed everything was fine. Her sudden fainting was just from low blood sugar, caused by too much stress and hunger. She just needed to be more careful.
Brian remembered the doctor’s advice. As soon as they left the hospital, he insisted on taking Jessica to eat.
He also took out some pregnancy snacks he had in his car and gave them to her.
Jessica looked out the window, her hand on her stomach feeling the babies‘ movements, and finally she didn’t refuse.
After eating, they went home. Brian even bought a big bag of candy that night and brought it over. But none of it was to Jessica’s taste. The next day, she gave it all back to Jacob.
Brian was really worried, but he didn’t dare push her. He just tried harder to find sweet things she liked that would also give her plenty of energy.

Chapter 376
To do that, he not only sent Jackson to ask around everywhere, but also kept an eye out in his own life and work.
Crunch. At the weekly wrap–up meeting, Brian had just finished speaking when he heard a soft sound from the room.
Brian looked up and spotted a pale–faced executive trembling as he popped a freshly unwrapped candy into his mouth.
As the candy hit his tongue, the executive’s face visibly flushed with color.
Brian’s eyes lit up. “lan.”
lan Hawk, caught off guard by the call, froze instantly. With the candy still in his mouth, he turned to look at Brian, nearly in tears.
“No hurry, finish eating first,” Brian said gently, realizing he’d startled lan.
But those words sounded like a death threat to lan. He wasted no time chewing the candy as fast as he could, swallowing it down. Then he stood up, fidgeting nervously, “I d–don’t dare, Mr. Atkinson, I’m sorry.”
