Chapter 320
Chapter 320
Jessica returned to the company with a cold face. The first thing she did was to inform Sana. “Give me the documents you previously investigated about Madeline’s family and friends.”
Sana sensed the anger in Jessica’s voice and hurried to her office with the files. “Jessi, did Madeline mess with you again?”
Jessica nodded coldly and took the documents, flipping through them quickly.
The information was quite a surprise–most of Madeline’s past pitiful acts toward Jessica had been genuine. She not only had parents and a brother constantly asking for money but also owed many friends money without repayment.
“Madeline’s family is a mess, but she’s no better. Since going to college, she’s never returned to her hometown, only sending back some money occasionally, which pales in comparison to her salary,” Sana said.
“Really?” Jessica suddenly remembered Brian had rescued Madeline because her parents‘ creditors had demanded she repay the debt.
According to the files, Madeline hadn’t lied, but that didn’t mean she was a filial daughter willing to give money unconditionally.
The records showed Madeline’s parents were searching for her everywhere. Jessica closed the files and told Sana, “Tell Madeline’s parents and brother
her current address.”
“Just that?” Sana frowned, thinking the revenge was too mild.
Jessica nodded. “That’s all. Don’t interfere with anything else.”
“That’s letting her off too easily,” Sana said unhappily.
Jessica sneered. “Not necessarily. Her parents know her well and will surely know how to torment her.”
Now that Madeline was pregnant, Jessica wasn’t shameless enough to target a pregnant woman, but what her parents did was none of Jessica’s concer
-she couldn’t tolerate Madeline’s repeated provocations.
Sana immediately understood Jessica’s plan. “You’ve thought it through.” Family disputes wouldn’t involve Jessica, which was cleverer than retaliating
directly.
Seeing Jessica’s pale face, Sana added, “Jessi, I’ll handle this right away. Don’t get angry over that bitch–it’s not worth it.”
Jessica had set the files aside and started working. “I know. Don’t worry, I’ll be fine.”
She had been angered by Madeline but had now calmed down.
Madeline provoked her because Brian hadn’t given her enough security, and since she couldn’t confront Brian, she attacked Jessica instead.
As long as Brian kept pestering Jessica, Madeline wouldn’t find peace.
With Weston’s attitude, Madeline found it harder to marry Brian. Unintentionally, Jessica had planted doubts in Madeline’s mind–this was her
evening the score.
But it was all because of Brian. Though divorced, Jessica’s life was still influenced by him, which depressed her again.

This gloom persisted until she got home from work. Habitually opening her mailbox, she found heartwarming notes, specialties from sticky note from Brian explaining everything.

These gifts and notes were from netizens who favored their “love” and sent specialties to Atkinson Group, each accompanied by a note blessing their relationship.
Jessica smiled at the blessings but soon frowned–these existed because netizens thought she was still with Brian.

Chapter 320
If they knew she had divorced Brian and “abandoned” him and Jacob, the blessings would vanish. Most netizens were deceived by Brian’s pretend affection, not truly liking her.
Jessica wearily put the notes back–she didn’t want kindness built on lies.
The next morning, Brian came to deliver breakfast and paused seeing the untouched gifts and notes in the mailbox. He wondered if Jessica had forgotter to check it yesterday.
Just then, the door opened, and Jessica in pajamas stood behind it, staring coldly at him.
“Jessi, aren’t you cold? Why not wear more?” Brian placed the breakfast in the mailbox, took off his coat, and tried to drape it over her, but she pushed him away.
“Brian, stop doing these meaningless things,” Jessica said coldly.
Brian retorted instinctively, “How is this meaningless?”
“Then tell me, what’s the point?” Jessica asked. “Because of your pretend affection, netizens think we’re a loving couple. Don’t you see this as deception? If they knew we’re divorced, how would they react?”
This might be seen as a joint hype, potentially affecting both companies‘ stock prices. That was the last thing she could accept. The more she thought, the more upset she got.
Brian soothed, “That doesn’t matter. If our divorce is exposed, I’ll take the consequences. Don’t worry.”
He didn’t consider it a big deal–he hadn’t hyped it, never claimed to be married, just didn’t stop netizens‘ assumptions.
“Nice speech. When the time comes, you’ll abandon anything for the company,” Jessica knew how much Brian cared about his career.
“Anyway, don’t ever come here. Drawing a clear line benefits both of us.” She closed the door after speaking.
Standing in the corridor, Brian looked at the closed door and smiled bitterly. “Jessi, you really underestimate yourself.”
If it came to that, he’d rather abandon everything than her. He didn’t know how badly he’d acted before to make Jessica so insecure about her place in his heart. Brian reflected deeply again.
Inside, Jessica leaned on the sofa, silently shedding tears. Admitting she meant little to Brian was cruel–he was the first person she’d truly loved.
As she wept soundlessly, a phone ring jolted her awake. She wiped her tears and grabbed the phone. “Who is it?”
