The Villainess Needs a Hug (Ivy Windsor) novel Chapter 989

Knowing exactly how his temper worked, Katrina couldn't be bothered to engage. She asked point-blank, "Are you going to get to the point or not?"

The underlying message was: if you don't, I'm leaving.

Terrified she might actually walk out, Naylor had no choice but to drop the attitude. "Come over here and sit down. Once we finish this farewell meal, we'll go our separate ways. Whoever you marry has absolutely nothing to do with me."

Katrina looked completely exasperated. "You dragged me all the way out here just to eat?"

"What did you think I dragged you out here for? To screw you?"

"..." Katrina ground her teeth, wishing she could march over and rip his smart mouth right off his face.

Amidst the heavy silence, someone knocked on the door of the private room.

After Naylor called them in, the restaurant manager entered, bowing respectfully. "Mr. Wilson, what would you like to order?"

Naylor casually rattled off a few dishes, finishing the order by adding two specific desserts.

Hearing the names of the two desserts, a pang hit Katrina's heart, and she nearly burst into tears all over again.

They were her favorites.

The manager turned and left. Naylor turned around and began leisurely boiling water and brewing tea.

Tired of just standing there, Katrina finally walked over and took the seat across from him.

Naylor glanced up at her but said nothing, though a faint, enigmatic smirk tugged at the corner of his lips.

Then, he slid a freshly poured cup of tea in front of her. "Careful, it's hot."

When he wasn't being a complete jerk, he truly was the absolute perfect boyfriend.

The food that afternoon was excellent. Katrina had been so consumed with worry over her mother these past few days that she hadn't eaten a proper meal in ages, and she had visibly lost weight.

Given the rare chance to enjoy a meal that perfectly suited her tastes, she ate in total silence, focusing entirely on the food.

Naylor barely touched his own plate, his eyes glued to her the entire time.

It wasn't until she had eaten her fill and finally looked up that he chuckled and asked out of nowhere, "You're a lawyer, yet your guard is completely down. Aren't you worried I slipped something in the food to drug you and kidnap you?"

"..." Katrina froze instantly, panic flashing across her face.

Would he actually pull a stunt like that?

Looking into his smiling, devilish eyes, Katrina swallowed hard. Knowing he was a total scumbag, it honestly wouldn't be surprising if he did something that unhinged.

Seeing her genuine fear, Naylor suddenly burst into delighted laughter.

"It was a joke. Relax."

Katrina immediately stood up, ready to leave.

Naylor didn't try to stop her. He merely tossed out a parting shot. "Next time you look for a guy, keep your eyes open. Don't fall for an unreliable jerk like me again."

Katrina's hand paused on the doorknob, but she didn't reply and simply walked out.

By the time she left the restaurant and got into a cab, her tears were falling like a broken dam.

Suddenly, her phone beeped loudly. Taking a deep breath to compose herself, she pulled out her phone and checked the screen, only to freeze in absolute shock!

A million dollars had just been wired to her bank account!

Katrina's heart raced. Even before she logged into her mobile banking to see who the sender was, she already knew.
