The Villainess Needs a Hug (Ivy Windsor) novel Chapter 944

Ivy tracked down Director Wylde. Before she could explain anything, he had already signaled a nurse to escort her to the operating room for prep.

Ivy had her own dedicated lead surgeon, a highly renowned hepatobiliary specialist whom she had met with the day prior.

To keep Jamison from noticing anything suspicious, Ivy's operating room was on a completely different floor.

As soon as she stepped out of the elevator, Thad and Davina, who had been waiting anxiously in the corridor, hurried over.

"Ivy."

"Thad, Davina," Ivy whispered, rushing to meet them. "I told him the kids were acting up and that I needed to run home, but I don't know how long we can keep this from him. What if he calls the house..."

"Don't worry, I've already briefed the nanny. She won't let anything slip," Davina reassured her. She grabbed Ivy's hands, seeking final confirmation. "Are you absolutely certain? The doctors told me that because a female's liver is smaller, they have to resect a larger portion to meet the recipient's needs, which will take a heavy toll on your body..."

"Davina, don't worry. I fully understand the procedure. There are obviously risks, but the doctors are completely prepared. As long as I follow the recovery protocol, I'll be fine." Ivy was actually terrified, but she had to save her husband and had no other choice, so she comforted them to ease her own anxiety.

"Alright, let's pray everything goes smoothly." Davina nodded repeatedly, trying to suppress her overwhelming fear and tension. "I'll wait for you here, and Thad will wait downstairs with Jamison."

Though the Ludwig family was large, very few people knew about this operation. Even Jamison's parents had been kept completely in the dark.

First, they couldn't risk anyone leaking the news.

Second, they didn't want to cause them any unnecessary panic.

Thad and Davina were the only ones who knew, so they had to split up to stand guard.

"Okay. I'm going in." Ivy took a deep, steadying breath. Her insides were trembling slightly, but the thought that she was about to save her husband filled her with hope.

Davina pulled her into a tight hug, her eyes red as she watched Ivy disappear into the operating room.

...

Down in his room, Jamison waited for a while. When no nurse came to fetch him for his scan, he decided to go look for the medical staff himself.

He had barely reached the nurses' station when Director Wylde emerged from an office. The doctor looked startled to see him, but quickly pivoted, putting on an Oscar-worthy performance. He practically sprinted forward, grabbing Jamison by the arm with wild excitement. "Jamison! Good news, incredible news! We found a match! You're getting the surgery!"

Jamison's brow furrowed, his dark eyes narrowing sharply.

He stared at Director Wylde, showing absolutely no surprise or joy—only deep suspicion. "This fast? Where did the liver come from?"

As a surgeon himself, he knew exactly how astronomical the odds of finding an organ match were. It was like winning a massive lottery.
