The Villainess Needs a Hug (Ivy Windsor) novel Chapter 849

Was he trying to leave her with a child to tie her down?

It dawned on her. That was why he had suddenly changed his mind a few days ago, why he was so eager to have a child. He had used his mother as an excuse, saying it was to fulfill her wish.

Jamison explained, “Even if it’s cured, the chance of recurrence is relatively high. I don’t think… I’ll be able to be with you until the very end.”

Ivy stared at him, her heart trembling with a fresh wave of pain.

“I was thinking, while my body is still up for it, we could try,” Jamison said, gauging her reaction before quickly adding, “Of course, if you think having a child would make it harder for you to remarry later, then we shouldn’t.”

“What are you talking about?” Ivy exploded, furious.

Before he could explain, she turned her back to him sharply. “I don’t want to talk to you anymore. Don’t make me kick you out to the sofa.”

*Harder to remarry?* What kind of person did he think she was? A sophisticated egoist? Her husband was still alive and fighting, and he thought she was already planning for her next one?

Jamison knew he’d said the wrong thing. He wanted to apologize but didn’t dare speak again. Instead, he shamelessly pressed closer, wrapping his arms around her from behind.

But Ivy jabbed him with her elbow.

He let out a sharp hiss of pain, which in turn startled her. She immediately turned back. Seeing him curled up, clutching his side, she panicked. She wasn't a doctor; she didn’t know the exact location of his liver. What if her elbow had hit it?

“Are you okay?” she asked, her anger evaporating into concern.

Jamison looked at her, careful not to overdo the act. He just whispered a weak, “I’m sorry,” and before she could turn away again, he pulled her into a tight embrace.

Ivy was annoyed at being so easily manipulated, but he shamelessly started kissing her, murmuring, “So, let’s have one… otherwise, I’ll have no heir.”

The word “heir” struck a vulnerable chord deep inside her, draining all her resistance. She froze for a second, then wrapped her arms around him, meeting his desperate desire with an equally fierce and sorrowful passion of her own.

---

The next day, Ivy accompanied Jamison to the hospital. Though she had no medical knowledge, as his family, she needed to understand the treatment plan so she could arrange her schedule to be there for him when he needed her.

On the way, Davina called.
