"…"
Seeing that his wife preferred her work over him, Mr. Wilson sulked. After a beat, he turned away and tried to force himself to sleep in quiet frustration.
Katrina glanced at him, her expression a mix of exasperation and amusement. "Hey, are you mad?"
"No. I'm not talking to you. Just hurry up."
"Okay, okay, I'll be quick."
Katrina agreed verbally, but her hands didn't stop as she typed faster.
About fifteen minutes later, she finally finished the document. She quickly put the laptop away, flicked off the lamp, and immediately slid under the covers.
Hearing no movement beside her, Katrina lifted her head and leaned closer, whispering, "Are you asleep?"
"Mhmm..."
Hearing him answer, Katrina knew he was awake and couldn't help but giggle softly.
Hearing her laugh, Naylor turned back around. "What's so funny?"
"You're jealous of my work. Have you no shame?" She took advantage of him turning around to snuggle directly into his arms, teasing him with a smile.
Naylor held her tightly and corrected her. "I was clearly jealous of your laptop. You were only hugging it and completely ignoring me."
Huh?
Katrina paused, looking up from his embrace before bursting into a fit of laughter.
"Is it too late to hug you now?"
"I don't need it anymore."
"Oh, come on." Katrina deliberately challenged him, slipping out of his embrace and shimmying higher up on the pillows so she could wrap both arms around his head.
"Is this better?"
She was so focused on hugging him that she completely failed to realize how suggestive the position was.
Naylor's face was pressed directly against her chest, muffling his breathing.
"Hey, why aren't you saying anything? Is this a good enough hug?"
Naylor still didn't say a word, but he suddenly opened his mouth and bit down.
"Ah! Naylor, you pervert!"
"You're the one who started playing dirty..."
She had practically served herself up on a silver platter. He was a man, not a saint.
"It was you! It was all you!" Katrina quickly let go of him, even trying to push him away.
But Naylor wasn't finished. With a swift movement, he flipped over, pinning her beneath him. Cupping her chin, he captured her lips in a deep, demanding kiss.
"Mmm... no, I told you, it's my time of the month—"
"I'm kissing your lips, what does your time of the month have to do with it?"
That logic...
Katrina listened to his words, feeling like the conversation had suddenly veered into dangerously seductive territory.
