The Villainess Needs a Hug (Ivy Windsor) novel Chapter 1002

She genuinely loved the dynamic of the Wilson family; they were loving, warm, and harmonious.

Naylor could joke around with his parents without any reservations. Even if he made them mad, he never had to worry, because he knew his parents never held grudges against him overnight.

Her own situation was the complete opposite. Although she was born into a wealthy family, her parents' divorce had been incredibly ugly, and her father had quickly remarried and started a new family.

Despite being the eldest daughter, she held absolutely no status in the household and was constantly belittled by her stepmother and younger siblings.

Even her biological father had never truly cared for her. In fact, every time he looked at her, his gaze turned somber with sheer hatred.

It was only when she proved useful that her family would even vaguely acknowledge her existence.

She yearned for the warmth of the Wilson family. More than once, she had fantasized about being Naylor's last girlfriend, becoming his wife, and joining that blissfully perfect home.

However, in the end, it was nothing more than a fantasy.

A brief silence fell between them before Professor Penn took a gentle breath and spoke in a friendly tone. "Regardless of whether you and Naylor have broken up, if you ever need help with your mother's situation, you can reach out to me directly. You have my WhatsApp, right? You can send a message or a voice note. Please don't hesitate."

Hearing Professor Penn say this, Katrina was so moved she almost choked up.

"Okay, thank you, Professor Penn. My mother being able to hold on until now is all thanks to you and Dr. Wilson. My mother and I will always remember your kindness," Katrina said from the bottom of her heart.

Professor Penn smiled and stood up, waving her hand dismissively. "It's nothing, really. There's no need to be so polite. A doctor's duty is to heal the sick and save lives; it's simply what we should do."

Even so, Katrina remained profoundly grateful.

When Katrina returned to the table, Julian immediately asked, "Who was that? What did you guys talk about for so long?"

Katrina didn't want to lie, so she told the truth. "That was my ex-boyfriend's mother. She's a gynecology specialist. She really helped us out when my mom had her surgery."

Hearing this, a strange look flashed across Julian's face. "You broke up with her son, and she still treats you this well?"

"Yes, her whole family is wonderful."

At that, Julian fell silent.

Katrina realized her words were a bit inappropriate, and unsure of how to smooth things over, she changed the subject. "Let's order first. Service will slow down once the place fills up."

Julian murmured in agreement and didn't bring it up again. They focused on eating.

After dinner, Julian suggested taking a stroll nearby to walk off the meal before heading back.

But Katrina was reluctant. "I have some things to handle at the university tomorrow. I'd like to get back early and rest."

"That's fine. I'll take you home."

Julian had a car; he was driving his uncle's imported Mercedes.
