Liam's POV
___________________________________
I woke with hands on my body that didn't belong to the person I wanted them to be. They roamed my torso, feeling desperately and too intensely. I didn't like it, and I groaned and shifted over. I rolled onto my back and clutched the pillow tightly.
I heard giggles and felt the hands on my back and around my waist. The fingertips burned my skin and I couldn't help but grit my teeth angrily. I wanted to roll over and bite off the female's head.
How did she even get in my room?
I rolled over and sat up. I looked at Veronica and frowned. She smiled at me and cocked her head to the side. "How did you get in here?"
Veronica giggled and motioned to the door. She tucked her hair back behind her ears as she began to tie it in a ponytail.
"Lucas let me in... I don't think he likes me very much. But that doesn't really matter," Veronica said as she lowered her head. I frowned as she lowered herself and reached for my boxers.
I pushed her hand away and she looked up at me and frowned. I panicked a little.
My beast growled. He wanted to tear her throat out for going anywhere near me. That part of me belonged to Alison. I was all hers.
"I won't be able to control myself, Veronica," I told her, a lie. She giggled and the doubt disappeared from her face immediately. I almost sighed out in relief.
I wanted to punch her in the throat.
"Of course you wouldn't. We'll save it for later when there's no one around, okay?" Veronica said, winking at me as she leaned forwards. I knew she was going to kiss me and I knew I had to let her.
Lucas and Leon had both told me that I needed to go along with the whole thing with Veronica. I needed to pretend that I wanted her. Apparently just until Henry wasn't being such a dick.
I didn't understand why. Why wouldn't they want me to be with Alison? There was something going on that I didn't know about, but I wasn't going to go snooping.
I had too much Veronica to deal with.
She kissed me aggressively. My whole face burned and I could only think about how Alison was feeling. She was probably hurting so badly.
Seeing her hurt expression the day before where she had to watch Veronica kiss me almost broke me. I almost ended it right there. I just wanted to see my female and comfort her until all the bad went away.
She had too many nightmares while I wasn't there. She had a cold bed. She wasn't warm and safe.
Veronica left two hickeys on my neck which I aggressively scrubbed at in the shower. They didn't go away and I cursed myself for letting Veronica give them to me. Everyone kept telling me to make her happy.
But what about me? I wasn't happy. I was miserable. I couldn't go near my female, my mate. I couldn't be with the girl I loved and it was tearing me up inside.
"Hey Liam," Lila greeted me as I walked into the kitchen. She was buttering toast quietly.
"Morning, little sister," I yawned to her as I sat at one of the seats tucked under the island bench. She smiled weakly at me and handed me some toast. I bit into it and chewed slowly.
"Is she still here?" Lila asked me, referring to Veronica. I sighed in relief and shook my head.
"She left. Thank God," I muttered out. I ate more of the toast and sighed deeply. Lila reached out and ruffled my hair playfully.
"It'll work out, Liam," she told me gently. I wanted to slap her across the face.
How? How would anything work out? I wasn't allowed to be near my mate, who probably needed me more than ever. I had to pretend that I was actually fascinated by the pack slut, and all because Henry does whatever his daughter says.
What was wrong with Henry? Was he going insane? How dare he tell me who my mate was! How dare he force me to be with his daughter, even after I've told him many times that I don't want to be with her. What he was doing was against every law that I knew.
True mates outranked any potential bond mate. Alison outranked Veronica on so many levels.
I wanted to be with her. I knew that I could easily live my life without ever looking at Veronica again if it came to it.
A low growl vibrated off my chest an Lila backed off a little.
"Why is Henry doing this to me?" I sighed out as I rubbed my forehead. I ate some more of my toast and thought about Alison again. I missed her so badly.
All throughout the night, I couldn't help but want to go to her after one of her nightmares or even after one of mine. She seemed so sad walking around the yard, and she'd been going on a lot longer runs lately.
She only runs that much when she's really struggling. I would know. I used to be the same.
"Because he's a prick, Liam. What else?" Lila spat out bitterly. I looked up at her and noticed the glossiness in her eyes. Was she crying?
"Stop letting him boss you around Liam! You're his Beta, not his fucking servant," Lila snapped at me before she turned on her heel and stormed off down the hallway. She slammed her bedroom door and I sighed.
She was right. I had always let Henry boss me around. I acted like he was some sort of superior to me. But he was acting real odd. He didn't like Alison, and I understood that, but the way he messed with her and I wasn't fair. It was cruel.
I had to go see her. Tell her that I was sorry for letting all of this happen.
I bolted down the steps and raced straight to the doctor's hut. Lila, Brayleigh, Lucas and Cass were already standing outside. I watched as Kade and Alfie jogged over.
"What happened? Where is she?" I panted out as worry and fear took over my mind. My beast whined out. He was worried. Which wasn't normal for him.
Brayleigh was in tears. Kade comforted her, holding her close and mumbling things to her. I envied them both, but I turned away and looked for someone who could answer my questions.
"Bray and Ali were on a run together. They must've been attacked or something. Ali got shot, a silver bullet straight to the hip," Lila came up to me, the worry evident in her eyes. I stilled and clenched my fists angrily.
A silver bullet? To the hip? That could kill her.
I turned to head into infirmary, but Lila grabbed my arm and yanked me back. Her sudden strength surprised me a little. I had barely been around to see her get stronger. I had missed out on so much.
"You can't go in there, Liam," she told me with wide eyes. I tugged my arm back as I ignored her and continued to the infirmary anyway.
I found Lucas grabbing me and pulling me back, and then watched as Leon came out the infirmary, covered in the blood that was unmistakably Alison's. He pushed me back and kept me away from entering the infirmary.
"Let me see her," I growled out as Leon got in my face. My beast was close. He wanted to hurt whoever did this to our female, he wanted blood. None of this would have happened if Henry hadn't separated Alison and I.
I could've gone on the run with her. I could've protected her.
"Liam, you can't. You know you can't," Leon hissed out as he pushed me in the chest. I growled and stood up taller against Leon. He stood his ground and didn't move.
I didn't care if I had to get through him. I wanted to see my mate. I wanted to see Alison.
"If you go in there, you'll both be in trouble. Alison is already in enough trouble as it is," Leon told me. I clenched my fists and sucked in a deep breath as I backed down.
He was right. Damnit. I hated him when he was right.
"What happened out there?" I asked him. Leon shook his head at me and huffed out. He looked around.
When he went to reply, I heard one of Alison's loud cries. I winced as I still felt no pain. The silver did that.
"This isn't the time nor the place to speak about it, Liam," Leon told me, muttering lowly. I frowned at him.
Something had happened. It must've been bad.
