The Transfer novel Chapter 50

The first day of spring came faster than anyone anticipated. There wasn't anything more exciting to wake up in the morning to a warm breeze and a beating sun. It was relieving for the snow to have finally melted and for the warmth to have returned.

No one wanted it to go away ever again.

Not to mention, it was the day Liam was returning from a business trip and the day to get back into routine.

Winter had been a train wreck. It was fine when it started in north with Liam's family. It was perfect, actually. When I returned, the first week or two had been a little rocky, but after that, it eased up nicely.

I had spent most of the winter cuddled up with Liam in bed or on a couch in front of the fire. If I wasn't with Liam, I was with the girls. I felt like I was changing, becoming a different person.

I felt like I was getting stronger, evolving and becoming a better wolf. I hadn't trained in months but I was stronger, mostly mentally. Ezra even mentioned to me often that my veins hummed louder than ever.

I was more than proud and relieved that it was finally spring time.

"Good morning!" I beamed at Lila and Brayleigh as I left the cabin. The two girls groaned at me and shook their heads.

"Why so happy for? It's five in the morning," Brayleigh groaned at me. Lila scoffed and nudged Bryaleigh's arm.

"Liam comes back today. She's probably looking forward to dragging him straight into the bedroom," Lila teased, and I rolled my eyes at her. The girls both giggled at me as we took off down a trail.

I felt amazing to be running again. It was different to be out in the open air without shivering and almost freezing to death, but it was good. We sprinted hard and fast along the trail, each of us eager for the day.

It was finally spring and it was already showing.

We shifted into our beasts and tore through the woods. We weaved in and out of trees and in no time, we finally came up to the fork in the path. We skipped the river, as it was still partly frozen over. We ran straight back to the pack.

Our run was too quick and I contemplated going for another. I had too much energy and I had to release it somehow.

Lila, Brayleigh and I shifted back into our skin and pulled on clothes. I lifted the leggings over my butt and then glanced down at the baggy shirt I was wearing. It was damp from the cold night but I didn't mind. I would warm up quickly in the sun.

"Good morning, lovely. Looking particularly good this morning," Anthony appeared next to me as I walked in the direction of the sparring rings. I turned my head to him and arched my eyebrow.

Liam had been gone for a week. Since he left, Anthony hadn't left my side. He was taking advantage of the fact that Liam wasn't around, thinking that he'd get away with it.

Not only would I kick his ass, but Liam already said he'd do it as soon as he got back. Which would be soon.

"I know," I said bluntly as I looked away. I focused on the story that Brayleigh was telling about her nurse training and listened carefully until I felt Anthony's hand on my shoulder.

It burned.

I pulled away from him quickly and snapped my eyes to him. "You better back off real quick or we will have a problem."

I snapped at Anthony hard, and he only smirked. He didn't seem at all intimidated by me. But it was only because he didn't think I could put him on his ass.

I could do it in a matter of seconds.

"Relax, baby girl. I'm just playin'," Anthony grinned at me. I scoffed and rolled my eyes. Brayleigh split from Lila and I to move to the pack house. She had another nursing course today. She was doing well with her training.

Lila and I were getting straight back into our training. Alfie had said that we had gotten fat over the winter, which he of course was only joking about.

"You think he'll make us swim today? The river is really cold," Lila asked me as we walked. Anthony didn't leave, but he didn't try to touch me again.

I shivered at the thought of swimming in the lake again. Knowing Alfie, he would make us swim again. He loved watching Lila and I struggle.

"Is that slimy man whore trying to touch you again?" Liam growled in my mind. I smiled, hearing his voice sending shocks through my body. I missed him a lot and I wanted him to return badly.

"Sure hope not. I'd rather not get hypothermia," I replied to Lila. She giggled and nodded at me in agreement.

"Tried. I took care of it. He's just following me around like a lost puppy now," I snorted back at Liam. I felt his disapproval and smiled to myself. He had been so much better since our last argument about Veronica.

He was still a pain in the ass and constantly said stupid things that he didn't need to, but I still thought the world of him.

"Bite his damn hands off if he does it again. If you don't, I will," Liam growled. I rolled my eyes at his comment as we walked up to Alfie.

Over the winter, there was a new system that had been made up. Alfie thought it would be a good idea to start training people in groups. It was the Alphas with the Alphas and the other wolves with others their own strength.

Fortunately, Lila was placed in my group. But unfortunately, so was Anthony. He made up any excuse to try and talk to me. He was disgusting horny and always looking at me in ways that I didn't approve of.

"I'm halfway to home, sugar. You better be real damn excited to see me," Liam sung to me. I smiled at his words. I grew more excited to finish my training so I could see Liam.

"Hello everyone. You all know me so there's no need for introductions. I hope you're all ready to be worked, because that's what's going to be happening today," Quo started.

"I'm more than excited," I told Liam as I focused on Quo.

I watched as Veronica approached the group. She looked unimpressed as she walked and then stood at the end of her group. Quo arched an eyebrow at her.

"Veronica, you're late," Quo said sternly. Veronica looks up at him barely and shrugged.

"Your point?" She retorted. She sounded bored and it pissed me off. I didn't like that she was being rude to my friend.

"Watch your attitude or I might just skip training all together and get you in the rings with Alison. Sound good?" Quo growled at Veronica. Her head snapped up attentively and she stood stiff.

Laughter came from my group and Quo turned his head towards me. I smirked and shook my head as I slightly chuckled.

"Alright. Let's head out over this way where there's some space. I want to run over your defence today. I've seen most of you fight and it wouldn't hurt to get your defence better," Quo said, motioning to a heap of empty space a few yards away.

We all turned and followed his orders. I already liked the group and him being my mentor. He was going to be a good trainer.

"I dibs being the first one you spar. I still haven't had the opportunity to kick your butt yet," Lucas told me as we walked. I side glanced at Lila and she burst out laughing.

"You think you'd win?" Kade asked him. Lucas scoffed at him and nodded.

"I know I would. I'm one of the best," Lucas said cockily.

Lucas was in fact a very skilled fighter. He wasn't good enough to put Liam on his ass, but he did put up a good fight. He would be a challenge to beat, for sure.

"Keep believing that, brother. Just wait until you and I get in the ring," I said to him. Lucas nudged me and almost sent me tumbling into Lila.

I rolled my eyes at him and shook my head. He was a piece of work but I loved him anyway.

"I'd put good money to win a fight against you."
