Several minutes later, Terry returned, holding a small bronze cauldron. He also brought along two young individuals—a man and a woman.
"Dragon Knight, this is my disgrace of a son, and that woman is his lover. Everything started because of this little bitch. I'll make things right with you today."
As soon as he finished speaking, Terry raised a hand and pointed at the young woman. She collapsed into a pool of blood before she could even react.
"Please, spare my son's life," Terry pleaded, his voice trembling with desperation.
Terry was truly out of options. Even the founder of his guild had given up trying to handle Felix, so what could he possibly do? If Felix continued to grow stronger, Terry knew his own fate would be sealed one random night.
"I'm not unreasonable. We'll proceed as you suggested," Felix responded in a measured tone.
If not for Xena's warning about outside threats, he might not have been so lenient. Besides, the Skyward Guild's strength made them valuable national allies.
Terry bowed repeatedly in gratitude and struck his son with enough force to injure him severely. When he looked up again, Felix had vanished, allowing Terry to finally breathe a sigh of relief.
…
On the flight back to Gray City, Karina watched Felix with concern. She advised, "Be careful when you reach Martial City. We won't be able to reach you quickly if something happens. Even though we can travel to Martial City, it'll take time."
Felix nodded appreciatively. "Thank you for your concern, Karina. I'll be cautious."
After a moment's thought, Karina continued, "By the way, Ophelia is likely in Martial City, though she's difficult to contact. Take this stone—Ophelia has an identical one. When you're within range of each other, you'll be able to sense each other's presence."
Felix was surprised to learn that his fellow senior apprentice, Ophelia Starling, was in Martial City—no wonder he had not heard from her, though he wondered about her purpose there.
"Come here," Karina called out unexpectedly, and before Felix could respond, Averill pulled him over.
Felix froze, unsure of how to respond. Before he could decide, Averill grabbed his arm and dragged him over.
Averil teased, "Why so shy? You're a grown man! If Karina wasn't dealing with her period, she'd—"
She stopped mid-sentence when Karina shot her a death glare. Then, Karina stood abruptly and walked over to Felix, taking his hand without a word.
"Come with me to the restroom," she said.
Felix felt his heart sink, thinking, "Not again! Why the restroom? And wasn't she supposed to be…? Oh no. Could she possibly mean—?"
