“Yvonne, it’s me, Felix-” Felix barely got the words out before the call disconnected. His expression turned tensed as he realized Yvonne had no intention of keeping contact. 

“What happened? Did she hang up?” Jack asked. 

When Felix nodded, Jack quickly tried calling back, only to hear that the number was no longer in service. Jack’s face instantly turned pale, and he grumbled, “Damn it! If I’d known this would happen, I wouldn’t have let you use my phone. Now Ms. Cooper’s blocked me too!” 

Felix looked embarrassed. “My bad, but it won’t affect your work.” 

Jack took an angry bite of his breakfast, clearly annoyed. While he knew it would not impact his work, he had to find other ways to contact Yvonne. 

Two days passed quickly, with Felix maintaining his strict four–hour daily refining of the ancient dragon’s spine. That morning, he opened his eyes and nearly jumped out of his 

skin. 

“Averill! This isn’t funny!” Felix exclaimed, finding Averill lying beside him as she stared 

at him. 

“Most guys would be thrilled to wake up next to a beautiful woman, but you looked terrified -I’m hurt.” Averill pouted. 

Felix remembered Delilah’s warning and quickly checked under the covers. He was relieved to find himself fully clothed. 

“What’s that supposed to mean? Are you afraid I’d take advantage of you?” Averill asked angrily. 

Felix tried to smooth things over. “That’s not what I meant–it was just reflex.” 

Suddenly, Averill’s expression turned sorrowful. “I didn’t want to tell you, but I’ve been poisoned. I might have been infected when I encountered Leslie. Felix, you wouldn’t let me fall into an endless sleep, would you?” 

Felix jumped up immediately. “Come on, Averill! That’s too much. Delilah already told me everything, so your schemes won’t work anymore.” 

Averill’s cheeks turned pink. “Delilah is just jealous because she can’t have you. She’s such a spoilsport!” 

As if talking to herself, Averill wrapped her arms around Felix’s neck. She purred, “You’ve already been with Leslie, so what’s wrong with doing it with me?

“I promise it’ll be completely different. Leslie was just a rookie, but I’ve studied lots of adult films, if you know what I mean.” 

Felix hurriedly backed away. “Let’s talk about something serious, Averill I really can’t handle this! Besides, my marriage to Xena is probably going forward.” 

Despite that remark, Averill was unfazed. She simply smirked and remarked, “Do you think we care about Xena? She’s irrelevant. Never mind–you don’t understand now, but you will later. What serious matter did you want to discuss?” 

After Felix explained the situation with Dragon Alliance, Averill nodded. “Well, Eloise is indeed the founder. I’ll mention it to her, but whether she takes action is beyond our control. You should know that. 

Felix was satisfied with just getting the message across. 

Averill continued, “After sunset, it’ll be the full moon. With me here, you can go all out. According to Mr. Hoffman, don’t kill Solomon–just let the Elders‘ Council know you’re not a pushover. Even if they want to make a move again, they’ll wait a while.” 

Felix felt relieved, knowing Averill’s unique martial technique could manipulate others in battle, creating a convincing decoy. That afternoon, he returned from Yardley Dining and took a nap. When he awoke, there was still over an hour until nightfall.
