Xena scoffed at the idea that Felix had stayed all day. She thought it was a pathetic attempt impress her, doubting that his presence could actually wake Curtis. Nonetheless, she did not dwell on the matter and stepped out into the courtyard, her gaze fixed in the distance as if waiting for someone. 

About half an hour later, a car pulled up, and Jaden stepped out. “Xena, I’ve brought Dr. Quinn,” he announced proudly. 1 

Xena had rushed back to Avesburgh because Jaden had managed to secure Brandon’s services. Despite being only one rank above Seth, Brandon’s medical skills were vastly superior. 

Among master healers, the top three were the true legends. Even Xena herself did not have the influence to summon him, so Jaden’s success was impressive. She believed if anyone could heal Curtis, it would be Brandon. 

As Jaden finished speaking, he opened the car door, and a man in his 50s stepped out–it was none other than Brandon himself. Unlike the usual elderly doctors with graying hair, Brandon had achieved his high ranking at a relatively young age, a testament to his extraordinary talent in medicine. 

“Dr. Quinn, thank you for coming,” Xena said politely. 

Brandon frowned, cutting through the pleasantries. “Let’s skip the small talk. My time is valuable. Where’s the patient?” 

His unfriendliness demonstrated the confidence that came with his reputation. Even Xena, the esteemed goddess of war of Dragonia, was just another person to him. 

“Please follow me, Dr. Quinn,” Xena said, leading the way. 

Jaden followed, feeling rather pleased with himself. He had called in a favor from his mentor to get Brandon here. Otherwise, not even his own reputation as Crimson Sage Sect’s youngest elder would have been enough, 

With Brandon on their side, there should be no further obstacles in his future with Xena. 

When they reached the top floor, Xena opened the door, and Brandon walked in without hesitation. He ordered, “You two stay outside. No one is allowed to watch while I work.” 

“Of course, Dr. Quinn. We’ll leave it to you.” 

Once the door closed, Jaden tried to reassure a visibly nervous Xena, “Don’t worry. With Dr. Quinn here, Mr. Summers Senior is sure to recover. You know how difficult it is to get him to come, which just shows how skilled he is.” 

Xena managed a weak smile. “I hope so. Thank you for everything, really.”

Jaden chuckled. “Don’t mention it. We’re practically family.” Trying to lighten the mood, he brought up something else, saying, “Oh, by the way, I heard a funny story in Yartford today. Some idiot at the Golden Prime Auction used a priceless Miracle Card just to bid on a single herb. 

“Can you believe how stupid that is?” 

Xena frowned, more concerned about the sudden reappearance of Miracle Cards than the story itself. These cards had been elusive for years, and she could not help but wonder if it was a sign that something bigger was about to happen. 

“What a waste,” she replied. 

“Right? The news has spread everywhere. Talk about dumb luck–that guy got his hands on something most people can only dream of.” 

Before he could say more, the door suddenly swung open, startling both of them. Brandon stood there with his expression grim and unreadable, causing Xena’s heart to sink. She braced herself for more disappointment as her body trembled slightly.
