The Rise of a Master It Starts With Rejection novel Chapter 1005

Barry rushed to the Xavier residence at top speed, only to be stopped at the gate.

"Please let me in. I'm Barry Lufter. My father's inside!"

No matter how humbly he begged, the guards wouldn't budge. Annoyed, they threatened him, "You little punk! We're already being nice by warning you. Here, then. We'll step aside. Try breaking in and see what happens."

When the two guards moved away, Barry backed down instead. One step across that gate would mean instant death.

"Well, well! If it isn't Barry Lufter! I heard you became an Intermediate-grade alchemist at Harmony Clinic. Have you come to show off at our house?"

A young man emerged, and Barry quickly greeted him with respect, "Mr. Jace."

The newcomer was Jace Xavier. He was from the main family line and was also Nerissa's cousin.

"Please, Mr. Jace, let me in. There must be some misunderstanding about my father trespassing."

Jace looked down at Barry with contempt. "If there's a misunderstanding, are you suggesting we Xaviers are bullying people? Barry, you're quite bold to judge the Xaviers.

"Oh, right. Aren't you an Intermediate-grade alchemist of Harmony Clinic? Why don't you use your connections? A big shot like you must know people who can put in a word for you, right?"

Barry was frantic. On his way here, he had called everyone he could. But at the mention of the Xavier family, no one would help. Even the supervisor of Westville Harmony Clinic had politely turned him down.

Truthfully, he could not blame anyone since such favors were measured by one's value. He could only curse his mediocre talent. If not, someone from Harmony Clinic would surely have stood up for him.

"Come on! Step aside, you two. I want to see if this little brat dares take even half a step through our gates."

Felix took out his phone and called Janet. Standing up for Barry was not an impulsive move. In Martial City, anyone might only get one chance to act rashly, so careful consideration was essential.

"If you don't have the guts, get lost!"

Jace's smile vanished when he saw that Felix was rooted to the spot. He had now memorized Felix's face, and those who knew him understood what that meant.

After hanging up, Felix patted Barry's shoulder. "Don't worry. Your father will be out soon."
