Felix froze in surprise. He never expected to run into Janet so soon after arriving in Westville. That's the very same woman who would soon be the center of the upcoming Battle of the Bride.
Her lively presence reminded him of their first meeting in the capital, which felt like only yesterday.
"Someone get him out of here! He's an eyesore!" Janet instructed
Colin's followers had been furious at first. But upon recognizing Janet, they fled without a word while carrying Colin away.
"Fighting isn't allowed in the city," Felix stated.
Hearing Felix's words, Janet's smile grew sweeter. "That was self-defense! He struck first, and everyone saw it. So, it's fine."
Good grief. Colin was nearly knocked out cold, and she called that self-defense?
Janet giggled. "When did you get here? It must have taken you a while to find Westville, right?"
With that casual conversation, she had confirmed Felix's identity.
"Let's find somewhere more private to talk."
They then entered a restaurant. Janet's status was evident—everyone knew her. They were immediately led to a private room.
"Finally! Now, I can call you my future brother-in-law properly!"
Felix gave a wry smile. "Please don't. There's nothing between Nerissa and me. Don't say such things."
Janet pouted. "That's just your opinion. Nerissa has announced it to the public. Even now, plenty of guys who think they're something special are still pursuing her.
"Nerissa had to convince Dad quite a bit before he reluctantly agreed. After all, it's better to find a martial prodigy for the family than have me throwing tantrums about marrying someone I don't love."
Suddenly, Janet's eyes lit up. "Hey, since you're in Martial City, why not join my tournament tomorrow? This isn't like the capital. If you're strong enough, you can have multiple wives here.
"How about it? Wouldn't it be quite an achievement to win both of us sisters?"
Felix choked on his water. Janet really said whatever came to mind.
"No, thanks. I grew up in the capital, but I don't think that way. Besides, what makes you think I could beat you?"
Hearing this, Janet looked disappointed. "Oh, right. I forgot about that! The rules are set—no cheating allowed! You're too weak.
"Even with some improvement since coming to Martial City, you're still no match for me. Plus, I had a breakthrough recently. I've reached Boneforging Realm now."
