"Think it over before you tell me if you really want me to make that call," Shane said. He fixed his gaze on Jenny, waiting for her response.

Jenny pressed her lips together, knowing this wasn't going to end well, no matter how the call went later.

"You always had my back, no matter what. You'd stick up for me whenever someone gave me trouble. What happened to you?" she shot back, staring at him.

Shane recalled the time he'd stood up for her against Sasha, only to get chewed out for it because it was Jenny causing the drama.

His expression stiffened. "Obviously, I'm not that gullible anymore."

Jenny shook her head. "That's not the real reason. The truth is, you've gotten closer to Sasha, haven't you? Let me guess. You finally figured out she's better than me, and now you want to get back together with her, right?"

Her face contorted with fury as if Shane had somehow done her wrong.

"I don't see how that's any of your business. Remember, you're my ex. You don't get a say in what I do. Got it?" he muttered.

Jenny's face twisted with hurt. "I knew it! You were never over Sasha, were you?"

"This isn't your business," Shane said, his voice dripping with contempt. "I never cheated on you when we were together. That should've been enough.

"I did everything I was supposed to. But what about you? I wasn't good enough for you back then, so don't come running to me now."

The moment Sasha walked in, Jenny's anxiety shot through the roof.

When Shane first got involved with Jenny, it was because he was trying to fill the void left by Sasha. And if Sasha ever decided to swallow her pride and take him back, Jenny knew he'd drop her in a second and go back to Sasha.

"Everyone's always talking about how you come from money and how your parents dote on you. So what's the deal with you acting all down-to-earth like someone like me?

"You didn't give a damn about Shane when the Winslows were broke. But now that he's got money, here you are, showing up again."
