Shi Ye returned to H City overnight, and never contacted Gu Jiao again. Even if they bumped into each other, he would avoid her from afar, and thus they no longer had any connection.
Gu Jiao’s life remained the same, except she no longer tried to make friends easily.
Additionally, as the intensity of her training increased, her instances of losing control became more frequent.
She needed to control the stimulation brought by blood, so the Godfather started her on medical studies.
At sixteen, she was in her second year of high school but got accepted into the Imperial Capital Medical Academy with top science scores in the province.
At seventeen, she began taking on D-level and above missions.
At eighteen, she received her first S-level mission.
She was the first member, besides the Godfather, to take on an S-level mission right after turning eighteen—not surprising for a child trained by the Godfather.
The mission was in F Continent, to assassinate a drug lord, and Gu Jiao executed it brilliantly.
During the month she spent in F Continent, the Godfather turned down all tasks assigned by the Organization.
Gu Jiao didn’t know he had done so and assumed he was doing well back in the country.
The Organization, however, had noticed something.
When Gu Jiao and the Godfather returned to the Organization one after another, one of the three big bosses, Allen, called the Godfather to his office.
"You’ve been paying more attention to Shadow lately," Allen said directly.
"That’s my business," the Godfather replied coolly.
Allen held a glass of red wine in his hand, smiled, and said, "I know you brought her in, and you’ve been grooming her, but you should understand the rules in the Organization. If you just want to sleep with her, fine, but don’t develop real feelings."
The Godfather couldn’t be bothered with him and turned to leave.
Allen watched his back coldly and took a sip of red wine.
Then, he looked at the video playing on the computer and said to the person inside, "We’re taking that task, but I want ten times the commission!"
Not long after returning to the country, Gu Jiao received another mission.
This mission was rather special; someone wanted to sabotage the union of two major financial families and had arranged for a killer to assassinate the bride at the wedding.
After negotiating with the groom, it was decided that Gu Jiao would take the bride’s place walking into the chapel, with Leopard and Falcon lurking in the shadows. As soon as the opponent made a move, they would swiftly take him down.
It sounded easy, but the killer had quite the reputation, ranked just below King in the underworld, which made it a very dangerous mission.
Any mistake, and Gu Jiao’s life would be at risk.
