Chapter 66
There was a look of eagerness in his eyes as he said those words. Quentin’s face hardened
immediately as the words left Hart’s lips. The teen didn’t seem the slightest bit fazed about the effect
his words might have had.
To say I was shocked would be an understatement. I wasn’t all for the young new adult types. I wanted mature Alpha wolves. Like Quentin, Askhan or even a certain war general.
It had been a little more than some seconds and Quentin still hadn’t said anything. That was scary. Hart’s eyes still glimmered with excitement as he continued to speak. Hart’s eyes still glimmered with ex
“I wish my mate would be a beautiful she–wolf just like you.” He said, his tone holding bits of longing
in them.
Quentin’s hardened look finally relaxed at those words. He looked calmer now, less like he wanted
to strangle Hart.
A small breath of relief left my lips without me even realizing it. At least it hadn’t been what I’d initially feared.
Quentin cleared his throat, stepping in between me and Hart. “I think that’s enough now. Come on,
Melanie.”
I let him grab onto my hand and lead us away from Hart who didn’t look all too pleased by that. We made our way into the office with Quentin carefully following behind me.
A part of me wanted to know what was going through his head, the thoughts he could possibly be

It was a picture of me; a younger Melanie.
It was a picture of me and Quentin during our college graduation. That day had been an extremely joyous one for me. I had been so excited to take this picture with him and that excitement was evident in the final result that was the frame photo I stared at.

The fact that she was so close to Quentin made it easier to as he wouldn’t suspect a single thing. Claire was someone that had been attached to him from our high school days. It would be hard to convince him to make her an object of his suspicion.
When we’d realized this, both of us came up with a plan to set up everything. I’d asked her to leave a hole in our tracks so that Quentin’s beta would catch on to the fact that they were being watched.
That was the only thing that would spur Quentin to action. Of course, everything had gone according to our plan. Like I’d expected, he’d asked me if I set up the whole thing. And at the same time, I had gone through the trouble of arranging for Quentin’s beta to be induced to contact Hart.
Quentin was an intelligent man. Soon enough, he’d catch on to my words and put all the pieces together.
And yet the longer I waited, I sensed something in else in the way he continued to hold on to me. I couldn’t just disclose that I was the Alpha of Ghost Pack. Not yet at least.
Letting out a breath, I turned around to fix Quentin a pointed stare. He wasn’t the slightest bit fazed by it. Ocean blue eyes watched me keenly, threatening to drown me in their depths if I missed a
