The price of betrayal (Jack and Ashley) novel Chapter 624

"Or is it that you haven't had enough of being Megan's lackey? Shouldn't you be happy at a time like this? So, why are you speaking up for Megan? Have you gotten used to being her simp?" Nolan questioned.

These words were harsh, and in the past, Megan and Jeanne would have immediately started a fight with Nolan. But now, even if they had three times the courage, they still wouldn't dare.

Nolan sighed and looked at Jeanne. "I gave you a chance before, but you threw it away. Now, you don't get another one. However, since the two of you seem to be getting along so well now, forgiving you isn't entirely out of the question. But if I can only forgive one of you, who should it be?"

As soon as these words left his mouth, Megan and Jeanne's eyes lit up.

"Me, Nolan! Forgive me! I am your wife after all. We had feelings for each other. I swear, I'll listen to you from now on. I'll never cause trouble again. Please, give me one more chance. I'm begging you!"

Jeanne, seeing Megan plead so desperately, didn't hold back either.

"No, Nolan, you should forgive me instead! I'm begging you. I'll do anything you say. My body, my soul, everything I have is yours! I swear, I'll never betray you! Megan doesn't deserve your love. Only I truly care about you. Nolan, I swear on my life, I won't let you down."

Hearing Jeanne undermine her, Megan exploded with rage. She pointed at her and shouted angrily, "You bitch! You're the one who doesn't deserve him! Get out! Get out right now!"

What had seemed like a harmonious relationship between the two women was now on the verge of becoming a bitter rivalry—all because of Nolan's words.

But Nolan had no patience for this farce. "Enough! Both of you, shut up!"

"Megan, when I got out of prison, I did imagine the happy life we could have had. But you personally crushed that dream. And now you come begging for forgiveness? Don't you think it's a little too late? Go now. Go back to Bellington. Your fate is already sealed, and there's no changing it.

"Maybe living in poverty will help you remember where you used to come from. Consider this my final act of kindness toward you. At the very least, it might help you regain some of your conscience."

With that, Nolan waved his hand, and someone immediately stepped forward to drag Megan away.

But at that moment, Megan struggled wildly and screamed, "Nolan, even if you don't care about our years of feelings for each other, you should at least forgive me just once for having saved your life before. If it weren't for me back then, you would have died already!"

What Megan didn't realize was that Nolan already knew the truth about that incident.
