At that moment, Megan pressed her lips together in a smile. "Kara, you really are kind-hearted and pure—just like your sister. Both of you are good people, but you're too softhearted.
"Everyone came to your birthday party with gifts, and Nolan was invited by you personally. Surely he didn't come here just to eat and drink for free without bringing anything? That would be quite embarrassing."
Megan paused and sighed. Looking at Nolan, she continued, "I know you don't have much money, but you should still bring a gift. You already gave Audrey fake jewelry, so don't embarrass yourself again by bringing something cheap for Kara's birthday.
"Oh, right. You're not going to draw something again here, are you? Oh my God, I almost forgot your art was worth 100 million!" Megan roared with laughter.
Megan failed to humiliate Nolan back then during the Baxter's charity gala. Instead, he'd ended up making an impressive display, and it had been bothering her ever since.
Now that she finally had another opportunity, she wasn't going to be satisfied until she degraded him completely. She was going to strip away every bit of his confidence and leave him utterly disgraced.
The rumor of Nolan's art fetching 100 million at the auction had actually reached several people in the room, though not many knew the full story. But on the surface at least, it made Nolan seem quite impressive.
Kara and Nick were both shocked at hearing this too and glanced at Nolan in disbelief. They never imagined Nolan could've accomplished such a thing.
Kara, in particular, was wide-eyed. "What? 100 million dollars? Are you kidding? Megan, that can't be real."
"To put it simply, if anyone else had drawn something random that day, it would have reached 100 million too. That's all there is to it. Does everyone get it now?"
Everything became clear to the crowd after Shaun's explanation. His explanation made much more sense.
Megan and the others laughed. "Now, that's the truth. But Nolan still thinks he's fabulously wealthy and some kind of big shot. How ridiculous."
Nolan remained indifferent. Looking at Shaun with a faint smile, he said, "My art may be worthless, but that offer to fulfill a request is quite valuable. So, laugh while you can, Shaun, because that art you looked down on will wipe that smile off your face soon."
