"Oh, by the way, did you happen to run into Mr. Weiss outside? He said he was waiting for you at the hotel entrance. How come you didn't notice him approaching?"
Nolan's tone was indifferent as he responded, "I have already met with Mr. Weiss and heard his message.
"Megan, there's no need to dance around the subject. I know what you're hoping for, but I'm sorry to say that you will be disappointed.
"After all, there is no disappointment or anger on my face. You must be very unhappy."
Megan couldn't help but laugh and cover her mouth when she heard this. "You are just so sure of yourself, but who can't put on a facade of strength?
"In the end, what is fake remains fake. Nolan, those expressions you mentioned will all come up later on.
"You can't deceive anyone now. You'll soon realize that you've become worthless and unwanted by everyone. Oh, I apologize. By 'worthless', I didn't mean it as an insult, so please don't be angry. It was just an adjective."
After saying that, Megan burst out laughing. Jeanne and the others had laughed in agreement. Worthless? An adjective? Was that a good word? It was essentially saying that Nolan was garbage.
Nolan smiled, but he remained silent. Instead, his gaze shifted to Jeanne. "You did not make the call right, Jeanne?"
Jeanne's brows furrowed upon hearing this. When she went to meet with Nolan, she went in secret. So why was he mentioning it now? Wasn't this a clear indication to Megan that they had met before?
"It's just absurd and ridiculous, so I didn't take it seriously. Nolan must have lost his sanity."
Half-truths and lies could be difficult to tell apart. At least when Megan heard this, she let out a mocking laugh, not believing the statement at all.
Kara and the others burst into laughter, their bodies doubling over in mirth. Something had obviously struck them as hilarious.
"Nolan, Nolan. I knew you were going crazy, but I never thought you'd be this delusional. Do you think everything I have is because of you? Ha ha ha. How many fantasies did you conjure up to believe this?"
Megan couldn't contain her laughter as she clutched her stomach. "What more can I say? One phone call from Jeanne and she can surpass me, leaving me looking up to her. Oh dear, Nolan, I almost feel sorry for you. You might want to consider a trip to the asylum."
